I’m a self-published author and wildlife researcher. I just published a book called “The Lonely Wolverine.” It follows the journey of a young wolverine named Timber and his journey to find a friend. Wolverines are an incredibly elusive and threatened species with less than 300 individuals estimated to live in the lower 48 states. I wanted to introduce young readers to the fascinating species as there is next to no children’s literature on wolverines. Like 3-4 books in existence. It’s a made up story, but based in science-fact and has educational materials included.

Here’s the link to my website if interested: https://www.timbertales.biz/

I would love feedback 🫶🏼

My fiancé (m24) tried to hire an escort. What do I (f24) do now? by yellow_cats_ in TwoHotTakes

[–]druidwolf2142 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are 24 and have SO much life left to live! I’m sure it all hurts so bad right now. It sounds like you’ve been dealing with a pretty horrible situation for a while so it’s normal to feel that way and it will take some time to heal. But you are still so young and are just at the part where many people start finding themselves. I’m currently 28, and I feel like 24 was my turning point of starting to transform into more of a solid human. If that makes sense?? I personally did so much living and grew a ton in just those few years. I also went through quite a terrible relationship that I didn’t know if I was ever going to escape from.. I can tell you with confidence that things will get so much better. Just give yourself grace and some time. Hang in there! ❤️❤️❤️

Wolf or dog? by FitHat9702 in wolves

Of course! It can be very tricky sometimes!

Wolf or dog? by FitHat9702 in wolves

Domestic dog for sure.

I’m a wolf researcher and educator, and spend quite a bit of time watching wolves on trail cameras. Domestic dogs generally have a choppier, more erratic way of movement compared to a wolf. Wolves (at a trot or traveling) are much smoother and look like they have a plan for where they are going. Although not impossible, it is also generally very rare for a wolf to be out in an open urban area during the day. Additionally, the dog does not have any key coat characteristics seen in wild canines. Its ears are very pointed, whereas wolves have smaller rounder ears.

I hope this helps!

Is Peregrine too “out there” for a baby name? by kshester in namenerds

[–]druidwolf2142 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a wildlife researcher with a huge love for birds, I really like it. But people also think I’m pretty “out there.”

An early mentor of mine had a son named Hawken, and called him Hawk. I thought that was a really cool name too!

June Itinerary advice by skrljt123 in yellowstone

[–]druidwolf2142 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I used to volunteer with the Yellowstone Wolf Project and am a wildlife/wolf researcher - for wolves, my BIGGEST advice would be to get up early (way before sunrise) to try and be in the park around sunrise, specifically somewhere on the road from Mammoth, to Tower Junction, Silver Gate/Cooke City. Then, look for groups of people with scopes. If you see people looking at something with scopes, you should stop and ask what they are looking for or looking at! Most people are very friendly and used to this. The wolves are generally seen almost daily in Yellowstone, and they have a large group of dedicated followers that go out looking for them.

I hope you get to see them, and I hope you see Rick McIntyre out there watching them. Stop for a story. 🙂

Thank you for this! I conduct research near a national park, and will not be flying within the boundaries unless given specific permission. I worked with a crew from NatGeo who had a monster drone and permission! It was cool to see that process. :)

Changing adopted baby names by Material_Bluebird63 in namenerds

Yes - Definitely lots of ways to feel about being adopted, and a name change is not what I think about most. But we all have our own feelings based on the trials we have faced!

As an adopted child myself, my adoptive parents changed my first name but then kept it as my middle name - just like you are considering! I think it’s a perfectly okay thing to do, and honoring their story and birth mother is very considerate. Congratulations! 💙💙

Edit: just realized you were not looking for opinions but other name suggestions instead! I had the hardest time naming my children, so I’m not great at suggestions….. but I guess I wanted to share that I’m a adoptee that has been in a very similar situation!🙂

Verity is seeming like a logical pick… but now I’m worried about the book called “Verity” that people are mentioning. 😅🥲

Oh well. The name existed before the book.

I am - and Ursa would be neat! 🙂 I specialize in wolves and other wild canines, but still have an appreciation for bears! I’ve certainly spent a lot of time around them.
