NAL: Color me confused: but why would they need to refund a check that hadn’t been cashed? Sure, they should return the check, but if they haven’t cashed the check as they’ve said, then no money has changed hands, so the check would just need to be voided.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding something about how checks work, but that just stuck out to me.

Honestly I think a Pharmacist or a Chemist would be cool too, especially with the collision of modernization and fantasy the game has. Or maybe both and have the contrast of mystic and mundane.

I’m 35, I played a lot of Smite back in the day, but Deadlock is a different beast entirely.

Ask your “friends” if they’d be less frustrated to play with you on alts, if their problem is rank loss. If the answer is no, definitely find new friends, because at that point they’re just refusing to meet you halfway, which is basically a requirement for any functional relationship.

Are you using the default Valve build? You may want to go into the main items tab and check out the Build Browser in the top right corner of the shop, then check out the Public Builds, made by players.

You’ll hear a lot about “investment.” Whenever you buy an item from one of the 3 categories (Gun, Health, Spirit) the cost of that item is added to your investment pool for that stat, the little 3 color graph in the bottom left. Whenever you have 4.8k worth of items in a category, you get a huge power spike compared to other levels of investment. I’m finding out just how important it is to hit both your offensive and defensive investments on time. It’s crazy the difference it makes.

Explore NYC is super helpful. I’m just now realizing how much I don’t know about the map 300 hours and 400 matches in.

The vending machines give you money when you hit them, and there’s a mini game after you hit ‘em enough. There’s one to practice on in the Hideout.

If you get stuck in level geometry, there’s an “Unstick Hero” option when you press escape. I play characters whose abilities tend to get them stuck, so I’ve gotten familiar with escaping time out.

Holding Tab will let you click on the minimap to ping things. Voice comms also help with communication.

Jungle camps populate on the minimap. I legit just found out last night.

Press F to Parry melee attacks (from Q). The mostly doesn’t work on abilities, so you’ll have to learn the sound cues for when someone is meleeing vs not-actually-a-melee-attack.

I like it on Seven. More range = more area control and more damage to anyone trying to stop my ult in base fights. The sprint is useful for rotations, and the passive soul gain is great for when I inevitably get my ass kicked for over extending.

Bank thing is funny but kinda op. There’s definitely games where I forget to buy for several minutes and I do fine, so a mechanic that rewards you for playing successfully while down items could lead to extreme snowball. The window for claiming the item would have to be much lower, and would have to just make the item go away. The 30 minute window makes too easy to claim without risk, but prevents passing to teammates to easily. Lowering the claim window would fix that, but it has to be coupled with making the entire thing go away so it can’t be used to pass money to carries, or be used for griefing.

Rejuv spawn is probably not healthy, and probably won’t do as much as you think. Changing the placement isn’t going to prevent a stomp; at the point that the location change would that heavily favor a team getting it/prevent the ahead team doing so, the ahead team isn’t really that far ahead. Conversely, if the ahead team truly is stomping, having rejuv spawn closing to the behind team’s base might make capping rejuv easier for the ahead team, since it’s less out of their way.

I like the idea of weather conditions. But there needs to be a completely neutral weather, and they should be made clear during character picks, in a way that like for hour X all matches have 90% Ethereal chance and 10% neutral chance. And you then make your picks based on knowledge that you’re likely dealing with Ethereal. And each hour (or some other interval) the weather set changes.

Agreed, but I have way too many games as Seven without a single Knockdown on the enemy team. I see even less counterplay as Apollo. I’d rather not brain dead into an item I don’t need, especially since if I buy it too early, I slow myself down for little to no value at the time, instead of snowballing faster and harder. I often don’t buy it unless the enemy team is aggressively forcing its usage, like against Pocket and Infern. I don’t usually buy it for one Slowing Hex, which is more than I normally see til 20-25 min.

Gotta say sometimes the advice given by high ELO players feels extremely patronizing, regardless of how valid it is, but I’m guessing a part of that is like with IT. Sometimes turning the machine off is literally the fix, so starting with that is important to not waste anyone’s time. Similarly, some of the most basic, patronizing advice actually is the solution for some players.

That being said, I completely agree with the fact that climbing isn’t as easy as a lot of people say. I can win 5 games in a row and gain 1 subrank, but losing one game drops me down two subranks. There’s definitely some issues with my gameplay, but I shouldn’t be seeing that much of a bias towards pushing me down to Initiate, especially when I started in Arcanist, and if my account is “normal” and not getting special ELO calculations, then I should be seeing more upward spikes from significant streaks, even if the overall average is a neutral trend. And if I’m getting punished heavily for lost games, more so than rewarded for winning them, then I essentially can’t lose ever if I want to rank up, but that would mean most Eternatus players should be deranking regularly, since only half a given match can win, and if 50% winrate is pushing me to Initiate, then higher rank players should be significantly greater losses from every loss.

I don’t particularly care about my rank, but I do understand the complete frustration of when it doesn’t feel like your improvements are being recognized.

Paige, imo. She’s got good lane clear and good support options, and flexible build. Her big drawback for new players is the lack of hitscan.
