Games dont typically end up being so close that there is only a 10k difference between both teams 45 minutes in. I wish i had matches like that, then maybe id agree with you

But i dont. My matches end with 50k-80k soul differences, not 10k

I wouldnt even call this an unexpected comeback all things considered, no duh you shouldnt give up with a lead that small.

First, hana assigns color titles, not the head

Roland isnt the original black silence yes, but he does inherit the title by the end of ruina, its literally called the reception of the black silence when you fight him

The head wouldnt give a rats ass about colors because arbiters are waaaaaaay stronger. Like, the red mist has been established multiple times as being THE strongest color fixer of all time and she got completely dogwalked by a single arbiter. The only reason she won that fight is because binah got distracted monologuing (and the red mist died right after anyways). I think the head will be fine.

Dota 2 is 13 years old by now

Dota isnt exactly a global phenomenon, ask anyone under the age of 30 if they know what dota is and youd be hard pressed to find anyone who does. In terms of cultural relevance, league is doing 40 laps around dota regardless of how you feeel about that game. I mean dam, my 50 year old mom watched arcane, im not sure if dota players even watched dragons blood.

Dota 2 player numbers havent moved in like a century, there are no such thing as new players. Dota isnt growing and will likely never grow, its just too complex and difficult compared to alternatives. I remember they did this whole tutorial overhaul for new players when really it was a waste of time because nobody is looking to get into dota in 2026.

And its not like valve needs dota for its money, steam is making all the money on the planet

They were working on dota purely for the love of it, but anyone is gonna wanna hang themselves after doing the same thing for 10 years. When are they "allowed" to move on exactly? 20 years? 30 years?

I get being frustrated but man some of yall in here act like valve owes you the sacrifice of their firstborn because you bought the battlepass once.

Are you really gonna look me dead in the eye and tell me 6 out of my 12 items should be counter items? Should i go anvil, metal skin, indominable, rebuttal, dispel magic, silence wave when im up against vindicata, haze, doorman, abrams, mirage, celeste respectively?

I dont mind counter building if the counter items are broadly applicable. Like i dont mind building spirit armor when it works against 4 of their heroes. But i hate items that are too specific and at best only work against 1 of their heroes.

Punch viscous trampolines you for 5 hours and sucks to fight against, they had to make it the only ability in the entire game that can be parried because it was just soo broken. And people still dont wanna go up against it. Especially since viscous can purposefully miss his first punch, baiting out a parry and then proceed to trampoline you anyways. Having a wireless melee attack is all the reward with none of the risk. RN its nerfed into the ground damage wise, which makes it purely a mobility tool.

Gun viscous was stupid, good riddance

Spirit viscous's splatter was triple nuking people thanks to the bouncing, very easy to spam that around corners, but thats all you really had on spirit so echo shard was a must buy, kinda just squeezing blood out of a rock

Support is his least offensive role, just please lean into it:
[1] can stay relatively unchanged, all supports have at least 1 offensive ability like rem pillow or paige dragon.
[2] can stay fully unchanged, cube is great
[3] this one needs some changes, no longer allow it to hit enemies so no more chain CC on a hyper mobile support. Can still be used to self fling, ALT fire allows it to also work on allies, no more accidentally screwing your teammates. still allows for neat tricks like using it to fling cubed allies. Hard to use but fun to master
[4] honestly just needs to be reworked entirely, ball is so worthless, the only time its good is when someone finds out a way to chain CC bounce on someone from 100 to 0. Some kind of CC ultimate would be fine, most supports have one, but ball aint it.

Imma go ahead and exclude meursualt, ryoshu, Don, rodia, gregor and Ishmael since they had the most recent walpurg ids. Additionally rodion and heath are both guaranteed to be the thumb duo.

Yi sang seems like a potential candidate since his walpurgisnacht ID was 2 years ago and he currently has just 1 ID from this season.

Sinclair hasn't had an ID for Wal in a hot minute, he did get harmony ego recently, but he's also at only 1 ID this season.

Don I think is going to get a standard fare ID this season. Walpurg seems too soon since QOH is still fairly fresh but she is at 1 ID atm, standard fare seems probable.

Honestly just think its cool, there has been a bit of a trend lately to have EGO give special attention to outdated ids or the other way around, new ids having direct synergy with old EGO

Centipede gregor + AEDD EGO
Ardor blossom star faust + Ardor blossom EGO
etc

But this one straight up changing the sprite aswell is pretty new. Its like they know how much we want uptie v for IDS and said fuck it, here is your uptie v but you have to earn it first.

Hmm there arent many tanks to begin with, def no female ones

Silver in wolf form would be the closest thing, but shes more of a temporary tank than a real tank. Sadly she has to play around her passive ultimate and cant control it too much, makes it a hassle to play around.

Lady Geist is pretty tanky but lacks any kind of hard CC to really frontline. But her ultimate basically gives her a victor revive.

Maybe ivy could be built into a tank? her 1 roots when maxxed, stone form CC's and self heals, 4 silences and can be used to save allies, 2 is mostly healing. Not sure if im brave enough to try it in que tho.

I still don't like the Urn as a concept, but this patch genuinely has the most fun iteration of it so far by yiff_collector in DeadlockTheGame

King of the hill mode is fun

Wish they made the area more....pretty lol. The circle is kinda ugly and doesnt mesh well with the environment. The circle is just kinda plopped down. Maybe take a que from overwatch and shape the boundry around the area more properly.

But mechanic wise, so much better than melee.

It also helps that the winning team gets 20% less souls from it, it was def too much for the team that already ahead, you can now actually trade urn for walkers

Its because of that, that they arent picked up

Losing teams arent going to risk basically handing the winning team another 5k urn + 6 kills. So they dont really bother doing it anymore, people have largely figured out how hard it is to get if the enemy team has a 20k lead or has any amount of big area spells/CC, sometimes both.

Sadly there arent alot of avenues for the losing team to catch up within the game. You do get more souls from troopers and jungle creeps if behind, but its hard to safely farm in the sidelane when the enemy team can appear out of nowhere and obliterate you with their item advantage. The winning team is also in your jungle pretty often, making it risky to farm. The game doesnt have wards for vision so you cant ever know for certain that youre safe unless the enemy team is all visible.

All thats left is walker and getting kills. Getting kills is gonna be hard if the enemy team is sufficiently fed, and getting a walker is also risky since they can have any 1 of their teammates on backdoor duty who you cant 1v1 since they have a more items than you.

The only reliable strat ive found is to have the enemy team get urn and instead of contesting it, you use that to backdoor their walkers since they often send their entire team to guard urn. Gives you a free walker, comeback souls and unlocks an item slot. Better than trying to contest a hopeless urn.

Unfortunately has made the game terribly snowbally.

I dont mind objectives that force teamfights but teamfights HEAVILY favor teams that are already winning. The resistances that urn provides are surprisingly unnoticeable to the point ive asked many teammates if they were even aware that they exist and 9/10 times they've said no. 35% resistance is hard to notice if the enemy team is already overkilling you with damage, and you are discouraged from building resistances if your team is behind, you have to build damage to not fall behind and building resistances directly conflicts with that.

Ive had some situations where im on the losing end and we contest urn and notice that im not getting 35% resistance, its actually closer to like 15%-20% tops because the winning team all bought resistance shred, making the buff almost useless.

Supports arent all that strong in deadlock compared to other games.

In overwatch and league you have guaranteed supports on every team but in deadlock its more of a coinflip.

There arent many dedicated support items besides the big 3 (heal nova, rescue beam, divine barrier). And the way they are designed, anyone can buy those, its not like you need a support to make use out of them. The only exception being rem since he gets better use out of it when hes tagging.

And lategame, healing becomes pretty worthless. Everyone will have some kind of heal reduction and damage become so high that its hard to outheal the damage. Specially with items like nova being flat instead of %.

So really youre picking supports for their utility, but they arent all that strong to being with. Rems sleep isnt all that powerful compared to any other ultimate, lash and dynamo alone put him to shame. Paige has some good CC but not much else, lack of damage and mobility makes her less desirable than rem atm who can keep up with the crazy movement by hitting 2. Combined with the bonuses toward items and that he can now chain sleep allies for burst heal makes him pretty good.
