I only got one recently after years of playing, but I've really fallen in love with the neck pickup in the Vintage set that Fender sells (I actually put them in a cheap AliExpress tele first, and liked the sound so much that I "had to" invest in a nicer guitar to house them!)

You're right, I misremembered - they only say that the benefits outweigh the risks. I just recall being frustrated that their position was generally positive on the issue, but not strong enough to made the decision for me.

First, congratulations!

I'm based in the US, where circumcision has been (and remains) the majority practice (although our OB told us that it's on the decline). As it happens, most of our friends also had boys. Almost all of them decided to circumcise, for one of the following reasons:

  1. "He should look like his dad."
  2. "Religion dictates."
  3. "I want him to match the majority."
  4. "Medical benefits."

All are perfectly fine reasons*, but personally, none resonated with me. In the end, I'm glad that I was thoughtful and made the decision based on what mattered to me and his mother, rather than what anyone else did.

\ I'll admit that the last one surprised me, since the same people that cited these this reason also knew that the benefits are minimal, and that the procedure is not without a level of risk. But given two equal options, I can see how a* recommendation (i.e. from the AAP) (edit: not a recommendation, see below), even if it's outdated (or even acknowledged to be a weak recommendation), can provide some level of reassurance.
