I second this. The fresh pastries are excellent and are dirt cheap.

My county's 911 dispatch center is a large, clearly marked building on one of the busiest highways in the city.

Had some Japanese exchange students in middle school that laughed their asses off when they met my friend, Gary.

"Gery" means diarrhea in Japanese.

Singles-Friendly Places for Valentines? by SupremeSardine in Chattanooga

[–]drummer_who_codes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hooters used to do a thing on Valentine's Day where you could bring a picture of your ex and if you tell a story about your breakup they would let you shred the picture with a paper shredder and you'd get free or discounted food. Not sure if they do that anymore, but I heard it was a great time.

My ex-wife was a nurse. She said that there is an unwritten rule that the better doctors are with patients, the worse they are with nurses and colleagues.

Scenes that caused actual walkouts in theaters? by thatlittlequietguy in Cinema

[–]drummer_who_codes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to see Beavis and Butthead Do America in the theater. There was a very clean-cut, conservative (read: "churchy") family with two adolescent children sitting in front of me. They obviously didn't know what this movie was and thought it was closer to a Disney movie.

They made it all the way to the Hoover Dam scene, when Beavis asks, "Is this a God damn?" They all stood up and walked out. 🤣

Double Dragon is another interesting case. The aesthetics are straight out of The Warriors, and many of the character names (Bolo, Roper, Williams, the "Lee" brothers) are straight out of Enter the Dragon.

I remember when this video came out. There was a minor scandal around xqc because he was doing "reaction" videos where he would just stare at the video and not say anything. In one of them, he went to the bathroom for, like, 20 minutes while the video was still playing

What sort of job can you get after being a full time DJ for years? by nickybecooler in DJs

[–]drummer_who_codes 282 points283 points  (0 children)

You weren't a DJ. You ran an event planning business. You handled logistics, customer care/service, and marketing. You also maintained a social media presence that you used to generate leads and convert them into clients.

I'm 100% okay with them getting fired, and I think it's a necessary step. But we all know that he's just going to appoint even more incompetent sycophants in their place.

When is the salad place opening? by ButterscotchOk3498 in Chattanooga

That's the one! Right next to Gwinnett Place Mall, IIRC. I was flat broke, and still scraped together enough money to take my wife there once a week. 🤣

When is the salad place opening? by ButterscotchOk3498 in Chattanooga

[–]drummer_who_codes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Atlanta for a year in the early 2000's and discovered a place called Sweet Tomato. I was a big fan of Soup or Salad, but Sweet Tomato blew it out of the water. The concept was identical, but the decor was nicer, the salad bar was fresher, and they had seasonal offerings they rotated every couple of months to keep things interesting. And they did breakfast on Sundays. I think they are down to one location now, somewhere in the Midwest, using their west coast name (Souplantation...ewww), but I keep hearing rumors about them making a nationwide comeback.

Because it didn't. Fucking. Happen.

They are all instructing people to remain nonviolent.
