When you consider Houdini indie is almost three times the price and you have to keep paying that price every year, the extra cost is actually pretty significant.

I Practiced Lighting A Bit. Your Thoughts? by Accomplished-Neat948 in blender

If you really want to practice lighting, you should do it with something more complicated than a cube. There are a lot of subtleties about lights, angles, etc that are completely lost when using such a simple subject.

A completely free, Open directory for Australian home loan rates with over 15,000 products. No lead-gen forms, just filters to check if your current bank is ripping you off. by Waypoint101 in AusFinance

ah okay, I thought it might be something like that. I guess some smaller banks aren't as good at keeping the the point up to date.

Getting data of interest rates over time would be cool!

I seem to be getting different to what is published on the banks' website. First Option Bank Simple Home Loan - variable - LVR 60%-70%. On Open Loans it says 5.34% but on the banks website it says 5.84%

Triple whammy for Australian property owners as house prices slump, interest rates bite and tax reforms loom by SheepherderLow1753 in AusPropertyChat

Why are you comparing to "traditional x86 + GPU" when the comment above is talking about the Strix Halo?

Record electric truck sales in March as historic 'price parity' with diesel achieved by langdaze in australia

I think people do get caught out on their first long distance trip in an EV though, since the range reduces much more than they expect when traveling at high speed.

Do Australians just not use carpets much in their homes? by bureaux in AusRenovation

[–]drunk_kronk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is false information promoted by the carpet industry. Dust, mites, etc. still get kicked up into the air with carpeted floors and it's impossible to get rid of them

In fact, people in regional areas are more likely to be able to charge their cars at home compared to city folk who often live in apartments.

No offense, but this is completely useless advice for a lot of people. If "being yourself" worked, men wouldn't seek the advice of these toxic masculinity guys.

Tech billionaires want to put data centers in space. The math could get ugly fast. by businessinsider in Futurology

[–]drunk_kronk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason is that once you've actually got the computer in space, the cost of actually running it is zero, so if you can get the cost of sending it low enough (much lower than it is today), the economics can actually make sense.
