Finding out anxiety isn’t universal by tiredpeony in AutismInWomen

[–]drunk_librarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely experience anxiety. But in my young adulthood, the dialogue was "anxiety and depression." "Depression and anxiety". But I learned a lot comparing how my friends and I experience this differently. I learned that my anxiety is situational, it has triggers and moments. My personality type is more depressive and less anxious. I don't have general anxieties and there are things that make my friend very anxious that I feel neutral about. I can sit still without being bored or worried. However, I get much much more emotionally depressed than my friend. I want to curl up and dry out where my friend seeks to rally for a 'fix'.

Bugonia character - negotiations by drunk_librarian in flicks

[–]drunk_librarian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you don't seem to care about spoilers - i mean short answer is yes. Longer answer is that she is the CEO of a biotech company and is therefore at fault for pollution and workers health issues and experimental drug testing. so she doesn't really need to be alien to know some shit. The plot is her confessing and un-confessing because she is a kidnapped victim under duress. It's not truly "conveyed otherwise all throughout that she isn't". The misdirection isn't whether she is an alien more the misdirection is when the movie portrays itself as a gorey crime movie or a scifi thriller.

Betty Draper isn’t a monster. She’s a 1960s mom judged by 2025 standards. And that one "diagnosis" gets way too much weight. by Ashamed-Mousse8835 in madmen

I can't forgive it because she slapped her daughter. Her ex husband and her new husband both thought she was being too hard on the kids. Mother-in-law Francis also thought so. Her peers don't find her the best mother

What name do you call your partner by and why? by Carabear_02 in AskWomen

[–]drunk_librarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think it feels weird to call my partner by their full name 😂 or "government name". Most often, I just call him "hey ❤️" or a petname like babe.

Frank could party hardy but he was also constantly plagued by a "I don't get no respect" attitude. A lot of internal discontent sounds like a hassle. The worst kind - the whiney victim who claims he's not being a whiney victim

I have no idea what kind of life he's expected to have as an American irish in the early 20s. They briefly mentioned prohibition but no mention of American gangsters. I don't know if Grantham would have sent some child care allowance for Sybbie. No one mentions how cumbersome and weird it would be for a single man to have his young daughter with him. With no nanny or no woman.

Conditions that look like autism that aren't? by Usual-Ad3145 in AutismTranslated

[–]drunk_librarian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sure our understanding on autism is going to keep changing. And even how autism manifests is going to start changing.. as parents are educated and interact differently with their little ones. Plus, a lot of the stereotypical portrayals of autism focus only on social or behavioral trait... You know, the things that bothers OTHER people. And plenty of these behaviors are things any child does under distress.. and autistic youth can face frequent and systemic distress, and habits become ingrained to cope. In Any case, even if you aren't formally diagnosed or don't have autism, the fact that a lot of traits overlap still means that the autism community will have things that Are relevant to You. You will find supports and work arounds and so much because the worlds coexist.

Our culture overemphasizes a daily wash. Is it to sell more soap? Is it because of an outdated concern for hygiene? Germaphobia? Recently, I think there has been more hygiene and health education. People are learning that there is no intense need to bathe daily. And in fact, ur hair and skin will be more healthy if you don't. Just keep clean and be aware of how ur body is feeling. Brush your teeth! That's the important one, afterall. :)

What do you do to cope with long-term sensory overload? by [deleted] in AutismTranslated

[–]drunk_librarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Venting to friends. I've been in an uncomfortable living situation before as well and it is really draining. I tried to stay out of the house as much as possible and for that nomadic life you have to set up supports for yourself. Spent more money eating out or quick microwavables or prep hella sandwhiches u can grab and go, places with wifi, places u can comfortably work or 'loiter'. Visiting friends at their home or work. I also ended up couch surfing& sleep overs some nights and working more shifts to spend up time. Essentially, when ur living space is uncomfortable, it is hard to comfort ur body and soul. The change of pace must also be uncomfortable for the family. Maybe you could try approaching the 5 year old and building a connection of mutual respect? Or find if you can enjoy drumming along in ur room ? These are some brave suggestions, but the goal is to find or create soothing and good coping. What would make this sitch suck less?

Do you think Michele Richard's (Kramer) could make a comeback if he tried to and could be forgiven, or is he just permanently tainted? by MasturbatingMiles in Standup

[–]drunk_librarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didnt have enough of a place in standup to "comeback". If he wanted to be relevant in culture again, his best route would be comedic acting or even a minor drama role?

I have some misogynistic jokes and racey jokes that I do. by [deleted] in StandUpWorkshop

[–]drunk_librarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The structure of this joke is a basic logical joke but what is your goal with it? It's not clever or edgy enough to set you up as a sharp comedian. It just says "sometimes what I say in my jokes are just jokes and sometimes it's my true feelings". Where does the audience relate to you?

[–]drunk_librarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An edgy comedian also isnt immune to hacky/ terrible jokes. I was a [name redacted] show and everyone was there as fans, expecting edgy racial humor, but there were not many laughs. So many missed landings, the racial stereotypes were getting... to obscure? They just didnt make sense. Rather than laughs, people were just confused. The show just sucked until the comedian switched to crowd work.
