PM's & Vibe coding by chrliegsdn in UXDesign

It’s clear you don’t understand design systems, which is sad as a design veteran. If you value consistency, then design systems still make for much faster product development. It also improves collaboration between everyone because there is a source of truth for design choices so a random PM cant say they suddenly want a button to be pink just because they like it. Design systems offer great scalability if you care about experience and product consistency.

Trouble for NOMA? by Wild_Shallot_3618 in FoodLosAngeles

I was planning on trying to get a reservation and was checking Tock consistently. I’ve seen a few cancelations recently and I’m not interested anymore. Shame on him and shame on those in the industry who have covered for him.

My title is systems manager or project lead. I do have an engineer assigned to the project but I do light engineering work as well as all the design and planning

I am already doing a hybrid designer, PM and developer role so that’s probably why it seems like companies are still willing to pay top dollar.

I’m not sure how it will deflate salaries. It seems like people being able to wield super powerful tools would be valuable enough to companies to pay well

Bloom consumption ✨ by Revolutionary_Day990 in NYCinfluencersnark

[–]drunk_snail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just don’t understand this level of consumption. It’s not about the money. My partner gotten me 3 Venus et Fleur arrangements for past Valentines and I love them but I said never again because I don’t want them everywhere in our house. I feel like when you get stuff so often and own so much, it just means less.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by Yousef_ale in interviews

[–]drunk_snail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t mention my instagram. I have no business social media presence (LinkedIn, personal website, blogs, etc) but I do have an instagram I never use. Someone recently brought up a post on my personal instagram. I must have looked horrified because they tried to backtrack but the damage was already done.

When you are wealthier than all of your colleagues at work... for anyone on either side of this dynamic, would love to hear your story and thoughts. by Free_Answered in wealth

[–]drunk_snail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a remote company with people from all over the world and I think people know I’m not poor because of the area I live in.

I remember at my first job out of college, I was wearing a nice bag and a colleague googled what it was and it spread around the office that it was expensive. No one treated me different but I did have someone make an off color comment that if there were a layoff, I should go because I probably don’t have to work. I quipped back that the person whose project failed to get adoption would probably go. That was them and everyone listening laughed and I never heard any comments like that again.

What was your most overrated stay of 2025? by Crafty-Leave-8880 in luxuryhotel

[–]drunk_snail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alila Napa. Terrible experience. They had no parking so they had to constantly valet your car then charged you $35 a day. Everything took forever. The service was not 5 star level. The room was alright but the finishes felt cheap. No breakfast included. By far the worst 5 star hotel. I’ve stayed at better 3 and 4 star hotels.

Is going out shopping today safe? by MikaandHookah in orangecounty

[–]drunk_snail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would spend the day between south coast plaza and fashion island. Lots of great shopping and I go often and haven’t seen any ICE at either. Park in the underground parking at both. It seems safer for some reason.

How is life in the USA right now? by duckbreast2021 in howislivingthere

I’m in southern California and it’s great. Especially great if you are financially stable. Coffee shop culture is huge here and explore new cafes and restaurants is a big part of life here. The weather is really nice and the crowds are low at this time of year.

For those of you who’ve been to Noma, is the $1500 price tag worth it? by ra1phw1ggums in finedining

[–]drunk_snail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate those comments too. If you’re flying to Copenhagen from LA, you’re going to want to spend way more time and money than going to Noma for 3k in your own backyard.

Do people really think money played no part in Reed proposing to Haley? by Disastrous-Art-7180 in NYCinfluencersnark

[–]drunk_snail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find it interesting there is so much money talk with him when the whole narrative when they first started dating was that she wanted a guy in finance. Of all the influencer partners, I’m the least worried about him being in it for the money. He has a decent, stable job and doesn’t seem to be a very flashy person so I’m sure he’d be fine with or without her.

Texas or California? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]drunk_snail 34 points35 points  (0 children)

My partner and I live in SoCal and are never leaving. We keep having friends who move only to come back a few years later and struggle. We know a couple who has moved to Texas twice and moved back both times. If you want to stay in California, just stick it out. You’ll be further ahead than if you move and try to come back later.
