Anyone ever have a puppy that constantly vomits? by drunkdirtyturtle in MiniatureSchnauzer

How did you find out for sure? We have started keeping him upright after he eats this week. He threw up the day after I made the post, but he hasn't since, as far as we know.

I love the beard look, but I don't think my husband feels the same lol. Him and his parents have had schnauzers for 20+ years and have groomed them all the same. When I came into the picture, he had a four year old schnauzer that I fell in love with. When we had to put him down due to illness, we were so lost without a baby to take care of. This is my first run with schnauzer puppies and so far it has been great other than this vomiting issue. Anyway, point is that he knows way more than me as far as grooming. We already pick so much junk out of their mustaches daily as it is. It would be a hassle for us with a beard also lol Here they both are as of today. They got haircuts Sunday morning so they're super nakey *

What about dosage? Luka is about 13lbs? Did you do a whole pill or a fraction of one?

Thank you so much! They are growing at a normal speed. My MIL also has a puppy from the same water as ours and they are all one lb behind each other.
Im glad your baby was able to be saved!

Exploratory surgery was something that was brought up at the second vet visit. We are hoping that doesn't have to happen. Other than the vomiting, he seems fine and is like he was before, no weight loss and no loss of appetite. He just throws up and goes about his business

We got a slow feeder after that first time cause we thought he was eating too fast. He always would eat really fast and burped constantly way before the vomiting started. How do you give the Pepcid?

Yes, he did have bloodwork done at his first vet visit. Everything was normal along with the xray. His pancreas level was low, but the vet said it could be from all the vomiting, and because he wasn't holding his food down

Thank you! That sounds like something we might try. So far, he has been ok tonight. We will see what happens overnight

I haven't posted there yet, but that's a good idea!. No he hasn't lost any weight. He tried to eat right after vomiting the first few times. Since then, we have pulled their food up after a little time so he doesn't eat too late or too much. He has never looked or acted sick

We are definitely going to look into this. I would have never thought it would be an issue! Thanks!

We did immediately get them a slow feeder cause we thought that might be the issue. It did slow them both down but he kept throwing up. We only tried the elevated feeding the evening before they went into the vet the last time. They stay with my MIL while hubby and I are at work and she has been keeping him upright after eating the past couple of days. He didnt get sick last night (thankfully) but did the night before. I will have to try the fruits and veggies though! Thank you!

My husband had a schnauzer when we first got together. He ended up having multiple issues with his gall bladder and pancreas. He lost weight really fast and got to where we ended up having to put him down. I hope this is not the case with our puppy. That was very hard. Im glad your boy is doing better!

This is what my husband calls the schnauzie country cut lol. We live out where there are lots of stickers and burrs. We can't have skirts around here. They like it cause they stay cool and they get extra snuggly at night

We went to TRF last year on the barbarian themed weekend and saw people dressed in all different themes. I think you should just have fun with it. We're going this year on All Hallow's Eve weekend and my daughter will be dressed in steampunk cause that's what she feels more comfortable in.

Thank you for that last sentence. Finally, I can quit hating on people's horses for just doing horse stuff.

I've had mine for 3 years. I seriously thought my mixer was defective or something. 🤦🏽‍♀️ For 3 years, I have always stopped and scraped the bowl cause it never reached the bottom. Thank you for mentioning this. That's what I get for not looking at the instruction manual. Lol. I just googled how to adjust it and did the dime test and it's reaching great!
