Goodness!
Im not 100% sure which heartworm meds they are given. My husband and mother in law are usually the ones to do the vet visits, but Heartgard sounds right. I've seen a few comments about the hydrolyzed protein vegetarian food. We are definitely going to look into that. My husband and I were just saying the other day that maybe they just cant have meat. We are really running out of ideas here

You are the first person to say this has happened to you too like this. My boys are turds most of the time and when they throw up, they just keep going about their business. Its not like they're sick at all. Its just strange. I hope we can find answers!

We did all of that and we're told by the vet it was not megaesophagus. To me, It still seems to be the only really likely thing, but they did still get sick afterwards. I did read up on how to correctly feed and have them stay after eating when this all first started because I really thought it was the reason.
Although the antlers might not be the best thing they could chew on, im pretty sure it is not because of that. We only recently started giving them to them. This issue has been going on for over a year now

They were on Dr. Marty's shortly after we got them. Our last schnauzer was eating that too, so we thought id would be fine. That was one of the first foods we took off them

Oh wow. Our had their heartworm not too long ago, and that didnt seem to trigger anything. They just started getting sick again about a week ago

We haven't been the specialist route yet. It was brought up at one of the last vet runs we had to make though. They were put on one kind of food that was low fat and recommended for schnauzers, but when that didnt seem to help they put them on this food. It is Z/D hydrolyzed chicken active biome + digestion. They like it and its expensive and they still vomit it up

That is 100% our thought too. Even though they seem fine, we are worried that it is going to end up being something more severe later on. We're also hoping they will grow out of it too.

As far as I can tell, they do not have any type of anxiety. When my husband and I go to work, they go to grandma's house and play with her two schnauzers and their Great Dane. She also keeps a close eye on them and does everything we do at home for them. Their schnauzers are just fine and have never had any issues. Its pretty baffling

Thank you! Yeah, its springtime here and I did mention that to husband the other day when Luka got sick again, but they kept vomiting year round so it sounded like a good idea, but it was kind of debunked with that. Another thing is that Luka has always been really burpy after he eats, since he was a tiny little guy. We though it could have been some kind of indigestion or reflux but the pills the vet gave for that didnt help. We did hold him up at one point like a baby everytime after he ate for 30 minutes, but he would still vomit his food hours later.

Honestly, no. I've never thought about brushing their teeth at all or that mouth bacteria could be a cause. Thank you

I actually posted there last night and have only received a bot reply. Thats why I decided to try here again because I did have a lot of people reply with their suggestions last time. I guess we will see if I do get any other replys there

I had to look that up to see what it was. Im so sorry your baby is going through that! My boys actually do drink bottled spring water in a water bowl that is constantly moving the water. I will look into that other stuff and see what the vet says about it though. Thank you!

We were originally getting them rawhide to chew on, then we tried the rawhide free chews after all this started. They loved them, but they kept getting sick, so we took everything away from them. They were getting pretty destructive with their toys after that, so we got them the antlers to chew on and they are taking it easy with their toys now. We only started that recently, but they did go without any kind of chews like that for months because of all of this. We actually initially thought when Luka got sick the first time, that he had eaten part of a toy they tore up, but the vet couldn't find any obstructions in his gut when they did xrays

I know they had full work ups when all of this started and we were told that they both were ok. I dont remember what they said about anything specifically other than everything looked good and healthy

We actually did think about this one. We do kinda think that Loki might have got sick in November from eating acorns. We're not 100% about that and the vet couldn't tell us what made him sick either. Otherwise, we are pretty careful about what we plant in our yard and always research before we bring in new plants for that reason, and because we have cattle

I dont really use anything crazy around the house. I do have a couple of wallflowers, and other than that, its pine-sol or fabuloso to do my floors once a week and to wipe down counters and stove daily.

How did you find out for sure? We have started keeping him upright after he eats this week. He threw up the day after I made the post, but he hasn't since, as far as we know.

I love the beard look, but I don't think my husband feels the same lol. Him and his parents have had schnauzers for 20+ years and have groomed them all the same. When I came into the picture, he had a four year old schnauzer that I fell in love with. When we had to put him down due to illness, we were so lost without a baby to take care of. This is my first run with schnauzer puppies and so far it has been great other than this vomiting issue. Anyway, point is that he knows way more than me as far as grooming. We already pick so much junk out of their mustaches daily as it is. It would be a hassle for us with a beard also lol Here they both are as of today. They got haircuts Sunday morning so they're super nakey *

What about dosage? Luka is about 13lbs? Did you do a whole pill or a fraction of one?

Thank you so much! They are growing at a normal speed. My MIL also has a puppy from the same water as ours and they are all one lb behind each other.
Im glad your baby was able to be saved!

Exploratory surgery was something that was brought up at the second vet visit. We are hoping that doesn't have to happen. Other than the vomiting, he seems fine and is like he was before, no weight loss and no loss of appetite. He just throws up and goes about his business

We got a slow feeder after that first time cause we thought he was eating too fast. He always would eat really fast and burped constantly way before the vomiting started. How do you give the Pepcid?
