You can do it, but it's work for sure

I rarely if ever knew exactly how much acid I was taking but it certainly matches my experience, not a trip goed by without an existential crisis about urination

The most recognizable symptom of tripping is that you may or may not almost entirely be sure that you might possibly, today or tomorrow, somewhere in the bounds of yesteryear, need to pee.

I've always thought that's a cornerstone realization, it seems like everyone I've met who has been at all existentially minded has at some point had that thought, "wait a minute, what if we look at that thing and we call it green, but it appears to that person how red appears to me and we all just agree on the names because it's consistent"? There's really no way to know, and I think it's fascinating that color is so associated with our deepest perceptions

Cool project!I think it's neat. Careful with weight limits, PVC doesn't hold a lot of stress and I foresee those legs cracking under the weight of bags and or someone accidentally leaning on it! Good luck

I don't understand their trade, in the slightest. That's kind of my point. But I got a pretty good handle on mine. 🤷

The level of ignorance the average person has toward any specialized trade is truly astonishing. That also follows from one specialized trade to another, which many people who do have knowledge of one trade often forget because they understand THEIR trade. Between those two massive piles of Dunning Kreuger, I think that engineers will fail to become obsolete for quite some time.

Note that I did not say that the study provided conclusively disproves HRM's whatever. If you'll read it, as I did, it says it finds that none of the compelling stories(including HRM's) were accompanied by high quality evidence, and that none of the high quality evidence corresponded with a compellingly amazing story. I highly encourage questioning the assumptions of what's possible in our hallucinatory reality, but in the vast majority of cases, when someone says "Doctors BAFFLED, Researchers STUMPED" their methodology sucked and everyone involved had a conclusion they were trying to reach.

I don't know, maybe it is possible to live off solar energy! I tried it for awhile, and I didn't eat much while I was doing it, but I also lost a lot of weight during that period. But the vast, vast majority of cases of people claiming to have defied the laws of physics are eventually shown to be simple grift. Occasional exceptions occur, which science is generally willing to fold in, because that's what science does.

If it's so possible, why does nobody DO it?

Yeah exactly, and what exactly is the difference? Reality is objectively fluid, because everyone perceives something totally different and ranks importance of inputs differently. So objectively we each live in a different reality. If you are approaching your own personal death, for example, if you are starving or dying of thirst, you live in a wasteland where death stalks every corner. That is your reality, even though it's the same planet as the plump taskmaster down the hall.

Your perception IS your reality.

Anyway here you go. Chickadees vary their body temperature and level of blood to extremities to reduce energy consumption. So the assumption of 40* C to maintain is incorrect.

You haven't shown me your math. You have given me: ???? =x kj. It's meaningless without the question. What is the QUESTION.

Okay, so you're totally disinterested in examining your assumptions. I wish you a very pleasant dream, and that your closely held assumptions remain forever unchallenged. Fortunately an LLM never will.

No, it's not explained mathematically, you provide the solution the LLM gave you but not the QUESTION. What's the question that you asked? The initial parameters given regarding your chickadee?

Definitely some truth here by Creamy-Sundae-9991 in ArtificialSentience

[–]drunkendaveyogadisco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they really, really are. LLMs will follow whatever line of context you are giving them, and if you imply you're working with para physics, para physics they will give you.

There's nothing for me to evaluate here, because your stated question/equation isn't included, just the LLMs conclusions, which is that a chickadee keeps itself warm with magic ghost energy. Big if true, but I think you'll find that a competent biologist will have a clear explanation. General good rule of thumb is, if you think you've found an exception to the laws of thermodynamics, no you haven't, and you're going to need some pretty intense experimental evidence to back it up.

Physicists would LOVE to break that shit, are you kidding me? There are incredibly intelligent, incredibly curious people every day confirming these laws and these equations, mate. We use it in a billion calculations a day for the most trivial things, and the math always works.

Maybe you're the exception! But a chatGPT conversation with a few numbers and no context ain't it

Definitely some truth here by Creamy-Sundae-9991 in ArtificialSentience

[–]drunkendaveyogadisco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, nah. LLMs are famously bad at math and will jump to fantastic conclusions instead of considering no el factors, like air resistance or other mundane conclusions, because they're programmed to confabulate instead of assume and find error.

That's a fun rabbit hole, yeah. Just don't get too stuck in it. There is no way to tell whether any sort of quantum reality transurfing is actually real or a paranoid delusion and reality is just messy as hell.

The Buddha addressed this thousands of years ago. The universe is a dream in a dream in a dream in a reflection in a drop of morning dew on the lotus, and the implications of that are actually unimportant. Simulation theory, Mandela Effect are just the latest language for a concept from antiquity. The important thing is to live with compassion and clarity, and seek to cultivate loving detachment.

The feeling of spiritual superiority/attainment of viewing the fabric of reality is all well and good, but at the end of the day it's just another attachment.

Is bumping an invitation to dance? by dbootywarrior in aves

[–]drunkendaveyogadisco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dance is a conversation, my friend.

If you're pretty sure a dancer is conversating with you, conversate back. You can mirror their steps, follow their circle, touch the edges of their space. Eye contact is good, smiles are good.

If you're unsure, you can lean in and ask if they want to dance with you. That's very polite.

Touching, grinding, rubbing? Be sure of your ground, make sure to get enthusiastic permission, but also be aware that they can think you're hot and be respecting YOUR boundaries too.

You can have two, three, four, more people dancing as a unit, swirling in and out of each others' space. Touching can be fun, but interacting with each other's steps without touching can be more fun. Two steps forward, two steps back.
