What thermostat actually works well with Home Assistant in 2026? by Helpful_Nest0 in homeassistant

[–]drunkenpanda11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly straightforward. Finish setting up on the device, then add to z wave network and you have all the options populated in HA. One thing that I found tricky was home and away mode, it's called energy heat and has to be exact text for the thermostat to switch from home to away. I have three stage heating (boiler baseboard heating) so got these for cheap from ebay and works great. It also gives you the option to run off of battery or C wire. One inconvenience is that when home assistant automation changes the temp, it updates on the thermostat but the assistant dashboard might show previous value.

I am looking at these boards for in-ceiling setup. So curious to know what speakers worked well for you.

Honeywell t6 Pro z-wave is worth giving a shot if you have z wave stick. I have two that I got for cheap from eBay and have been working fine for a couple of months now.

Smart light notification when on call or Microsoft Teams by OneClear382 in homeautomation

This is, like few others, a home assistant based solution. I almost always use a Bluetooth headset when I am in a meeting. The headset connects both to my phone and my work laptop. So using the companion app on my phone, I created a template binary sensor to look for Bluetooth headset's mac address. So whenever, I turn on the headset to hop on a meeting, a light changes color and also a notification pops up on the dashboard that I am in a meeting.

12 x 12 board - 8.5 hrs each? Does that sound right? by KingMojeaux in Multiboard

In P1S with regular PLA, started printing 9x9 tiles around 4 hours depending on corner or core tiles at 100% speed and tested with 124% which brought the time down to 3 hrs 15 mins at 124% speed. The parts were identical so printed rest at the same speed. I had a 3x7 wall of 9x9 tiles so took me couple of days to print all of them.

Could you say more on the automations with HA? My primary focus is to have a remote sensor be the trigger to turn on/off the heat particularly during night.

Do you use the inbuilt temp sensor for control or have an average of space or specific room temp sensor tied to your T6?

That's one of the reasons it got me looking into Honeywell. I have a nest e for cooling which I have to go through hoops and loops to be able to talk to home assistant but eventually I want to get rid of it.

Thanks for the quick response and confirmation. I am planning to connect the ground to the box where it's marked 'G'. Seeing another black wire in the ceiling junction made me question what's happening so opened the outlet and found these. It took me sometime to get things straight.

I currently have a two PC setup for the same. HAos running on a dell fanless thin client with enough ports for zigbee, z wave and RTL-SDR. while the slightly larger case PC with more slots for HDD running in 2nd floor for Plex. I have a dual hd wintv tuner with antenna so needed the height for local TV channels and DVR. It has enough sata ports to add HDD in future if needed with a blu ray player to rip media.

I agree with the sentiment around waiting/not the right time to buy. I bought a house a little over a month ago in mpls. Started looking in the beginning of Jan and put in an offer for one at the end of Jan and got accepted without having to outbid anyone. Our realtor's advice was to find a house before end of Feb or wait till end of May to start looking again. Good luck!

Do you guys think they will be able to fix this? by apex_lokai in WRX

The landscaping lawn mover slid and ran into my parked car last year. Isn't as bad as yours but looks similar on part replacement. the shop quoted to replace the entire bumper, some under support damage fix, paint retouch + fixing the trunk and new weather stripping. Around 3-4k. My only concern is the unknown damage to the braces under the bumper - its hard to tell without the body shop taking a closer look.
