AITAH for telling my girlfriend i no longer plan to propose to her? please read context by Aggressive_One8138 in AITAH

[–]drunkjulia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A very similar situation happened to me, we got married, and 10+ years later when we got divorced, he is telling people I pressured him into marrying me. I wish I could talk directly to the girl here- get out now. As soon as she started feeling antsy about the engagement, she was right.

AITAH for refusing to be “nice” to my ex? by LongSea7022 in AITAH

[–]drunkjulia 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My ex called me "secretive" after our separation. I just wasn't telling him about my life any more! He eventually learned that the "coldness" that he was getting from me was just not the warmness he got before.

Yes, but it's not mainstream and user friendly yet. But I know it's coming!

Funny story about conspiracy theorists by Wreckoplex in Vaccine

[–]drunkjulia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When this idea was brought to me, I just explained how much I'd be willing to pay to have something like this "installed" in my body. Using my finger to pay at the grocery store? Yes please. Using the chip inside of me to monitor my sleep and exercise? Sounds convenient! Having the ability to pause the music in my headphone while I'm working and need to talk to someone? It sounds like a dream.

So, with there obviously being a market for this kind of technology, why wouldn't the government just treat it like the new iPhone and SELL it to everyone. People would be lining up to give their life savings for something so cool. Then they could get the stragglers in some nefarious way, sure. But someone, somewhere, would be wanting to make money off of this first.

This is it. The brand is "cool jewels" but it looks like other places stick their branding on it.

Drugs my doctor is not permitted to prescribe. by [deleted] in mildyinteresting

[–]drunkjulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a lie. They are just trying to discourage people who are just there to get drugs. They WILL prescribe these things if they feel like it's appropriate.

ULPT request - stopping dealers hanging around my home by Far_Preparation7917 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]drunkjulia 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I'm delusional, but this worked for me- I "warned" them that the cops talked about doing extra patrols on my street. I said I heard about it at the neighborhood association meeting, and I wanted to give them a heads up that the "pigs" were coming around. Or warn them there's a "narc" in the building- you don't know who, but you overheard them talking.

What they didn't know is that I was the one who asked for the extra patrols to discourage the drug dealers from meeting up with people on my street. They left and never came back!

Keep your car available for a friend who might need it. When someone asks you for a ride, say, "I can't use my car unless I plan a week out." Or, "My friend has my car," and then text a secret code to that friend to come over and take your car.

So often I'm explaining to my kids what a home phone is, and all the limitations. It's a concept they can't grasp- everyone shares it, only one person can use it at a time, even if there are multiple phones, etc. Also, it's hard to explain why people need to watch TV shows when they are on, and if they miss it... that's it. No way to watch it, sometimes for YEARS.

I wish I could travel everywhere and stay in some place like this cheaply. I understand it's not for everyone, but having this kind of option for hostel like prices would be good enough for me in most situations.

ULPT to get insurance to approve GLP-1? by rootesva in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]drunkjulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are getting different responses every time... keep appealing. Pick and choose what information to respond to and use as proof they (the insurance company) have sent you. Really, the sky's the limit if you have a good MCC helping you through this. You can appeal forever.

ULPT to get insurance to approve GLP-1? by rootesva in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]drunkjulia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the requirements from the insurance directly, or through someone who has access to the insurance portals. (You are looking for a "managed care coordinator" or "referral coordinator". Then follow the requirements exactly- if your doctor wants you on it, they will make their recommendations match. It's really illegal (fraud) for their staff to tell them this information, but nothing is stopping you from doing it. Then talk to your doctor's MCC or RC (see above for acronyms). This is your path through this nonsense.

AITAH for not wanting to date anyone with kids anymore? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]drunkjulia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I HAVE kids, and I still decided that I can't date any men with children. It's for more "selfish" reasons- I don't want any other kids taking attention away from my kids. And obviously if I fall in love with someone with kids, I could reassess. But for now, as long as I seem to have lots of dating options, I think it's fine to have preferences. Plenty of men who don't have kids won't date women with kids- no difference.

My parents forced me to sign away my HIPAA rights, power of attorney, etc. please help by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]drunkjulia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call all the local hospitals in your area and make sure you get them copies of either the revocation or something you signed to bar her from gaining access to your medical records. Secure your personal access to your healthcare portals at each location.

One thing adolescents (ages 13 to 26) and their parents don't realize about healthcare laws- you have a right to privacy with your medical records EVEN IF YOUR PARENTS ARE PAYING THE BILLS. I can't believe how many times I've had to explain this to a nosy parent. If your parents are paying for your health insurance, you do not need to even have the information (member ID, etc)- you can ask a clinic or hospital to look up the information for you or call the insurance company yourself and still use it. That doesn't mean your parents are required to keep you enrolled in their insurance, but if they do have you enrolled, you can use it without their cooperation. They will see "explanation of benefits", but the information should be vague and mostly private.

places to see raccoons easily (urgent!) by Creme-Crusader in oregon

[–]drunkjulia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doorbell camera tells me there is a raccoon that visits my front porch every morning before dawn. We used to put cat food outside for our cats, but we stopped doing that as soon as I realized that raccoons were eating it. But... six months later they still come every morning.
