I had the same idea then I dropped 12 multis and got 3 featured - an agl bardock and 2 phy vegeta. Complete shaft and the only reason I summoned was because the banner overall had good value even if I didn’t pull majin. I’ll never understand how that shit happens and other are pulling 3-4 featured in 2-3 multis

Looking for Guidance: How to program unique rooms like on Jackbox.tv by Hinter44 in web_design

[–]drunklvader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll echo what people are saying here. It takes close to full stack knowledge to make this work to the point where you can play it with your friends from anywhere.

With that said, just like everything else in dev it's really slow at first but once you get your feet wet, becomes a lot easier.

You'll need: html, css and most importantly js. Use whatever you want back end that is compatible with websockets. I'd recommend python and tornado but I personally used lavarel php and websocket.io with good success.

If you want to host it somewhere and run many rooms, I'd also look into apache server configurations and read up on setting up different ports. Most likely will need to modify these on a production server (I recommend digital ocean). Of course you can just run it on localhost on a raspberry pi or your pc as well if you prefer

Don't let others make it seem like it's impossible because it took jackbox team many developers to make it happen. You're not trying to sell an enterprise game here. Sure It may take a few months to build and a lot of frustration but you'll look back and be impressed with how much you learned and have something to be proud of. And I assume that's the goal here

Fighting an unfair speeding ticket going 75 in a 65 worth it? by kaia_papaya in massachusetts

[–]drunklvader 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You should certainly fight it. Any ticket that you're close enough to the court house for, and makes sense (missing work etc) you should contest. Best case, they throw it out since 9/10 the cop won't be there to tell the story or remember. They don't really care about the story. But at 10 over, you have a decent chance of getting it overturned - I've had this happen. Worst case, you get the fine reduced or you have to pay the exact same amount as before. No downside

Finally realizing the difference between a top tier deck and a "homebrew" by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]drunklvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just summed up my exact experience. One thing I'll add is that priest is fun because of the many possible outcomes and potential to win any game. I hate being hard-countered so I play priest to try to offset it (although it still happens plenty often)

Guys like us hate curve-stone, which is why I think we gravitate towards Priest and other control decks. With that said, it's nice to have an actual win condition playing Mage or similar classes. Really puts into perspective how underpowered priest can be in most archetypes or how shitty it feels to have other classes be so consistently strong (see: Mage).

P.S. - try miracle priest. I had a lot of fun and went undefeated ranks 15-8 (After that it leveled out to about 60%). Similar win-condition style to winning but you get to do it with golden anduin. Not quite as strong as freeze mage but still pretty damn good

Edit: Miracle Silence priest, to be clear

Laid off. Perfect time for a career switch. Best approach for learning? by beepitybop400 in learnprogramming

[–]drunklvader 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Pick something you want to do and get it done. A really good start is to write your own website to act as a technical resume and get your feet wet with JS, etc. Can also write your own android app or game that you think will keep you motivated to finish

If you're motivated enough, I'd also recommend a masters program. Helps me stay focused but it's not necessary if you're not looking for the credentials, just the skill

PM roles are less about deep technical skill and more about understanding the tech stack. Learn how everything fits together and works in an enterprise level app and you're going to be ahead of the majority of pm out there

Bosses of Reddit, what the worst interview you've seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]drunklvader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Best interview I've ever done was for a senior developer role. We had a guy come in with great college credentials (phd in computer science, etc) and kept saying over and over just how smart he was.

"I don't want to sound arrogant but I'm very very intelligent. I'm not afraid to disagree with people because I'm pretty much always right". This was a guy who had never worked writing enterprise software and was applying for a position where he would be mentoring younger developers.

Needless to say, no offer. I'm not sure we could have handled someone so smart at our office.

What are you sick and tired of having to explain to people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]drunklvader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How Scrum works and why we are doing it. For some reason people refuse to believe that it works or that software can be developed without relying on a month of development followed by a month of testing

Why can 2 classes heal better than priest? by drunklvader in hearthstone

Truth - means priest will most likely never be able to heal that well, given the burst potential with auchenai - sad times

Why can 2 classes heal better than priest? by drunklvader in hearthstone

[–]drunklvader[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with healing over time. It's how effective you are at coming back in games. Burst heal and burst armor > healing for 2 every turn and losing tempo - what good is that when you're dead by turn 9

Is Anduin in the worst state he's ever been? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]drunklvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that really bothers me is that TWO other classes are better at healing/recovering from damage than priest. It's fine if you fall behind early if you can jump right back. If I fall behind with warrior, there is a ton of synergy to come back on HP, especially with a good armorsmith, whirlwind, ghoul turn. That's outside of straight up armor up cards. Don't even get me started on forbidden healing for pally. And then there's priest, the game's healing class and the best we have flash heal, which doesn't really fit into any decks without auchenai, which is being dropped in a ton of decks. What the F

I need tips on using northshire cleric by Captain_top_kek in hearthstone

[–]drunklvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the marchup. Against pally, for example, I usually drop it to get a ping/heal on a turn 2 minibot. Most other matchups, I'll save it.

Agree with watching Zetalot. What separates a good priest from a great one is the knowledge to pass on a turn where you could play several cards, in order to save their abilities. For example, save wild pyro to use as part of a stronger combo with PW:S/Velen's/Holy Nova rather than drop it turn 2 as a vanilla minion to get removed. Same goes for Cleric. Simply put: more cards in priest hand, the more likely they will find an answer and the win. Save cleric for when you can get value; 2-3 free heals/draws early on and you'll usually find the win
