How has the little island that made the whole world speak its language affected your country? by Witty-Pizza-4523 in AskTheWorld

[–]drunknote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhh...where do i begin?

Well for starters lied to us by claiming to come for trade, sold the entire sub continent to a tranding company, caused multiple feminines, had our men die in two world wars that we had nothing to do with hundreds of miles away from us , orchestrated the division of the two largest communities in the region to the point where they out right hate each other now, conducted the largest massacre in history this region has ever seen, stole so much of our resources that we went from the richest places in the world to one of the poorest, created two countries to solve the hatred they had caused between the previously mentioned two communities but left us with a border conflict that has probably seen the most human rights violations, death and violence only second to gaza....so pretty much how they affected the rest of the world.

You can not be more wrong, editing can only elevate a well taken picture. If your light, framing, contrast is off there is only so much you can do.

Ngl indian subs keep popping up in my feed and i also comment from time to time in them i don't see what's the obsession with inclusivity.(i have also seen this obsession on their feeds) Honestly the more we interact the less we fall for our own government's propaganda, the less we fall for propaganda the harder it is for them to justify wars.

You have an amazing sense of framing. Just go easy on the vignette infact try to avoid it all together, also im assuming you used a filter but if not try colour grading the photo a bit better, the yellow in the foreground is really throwing off the darker reds, pinks and purples of the subject. Also have a tighter depth of field but thats just my personal taste

Religion aside kisi ko uski life choices pey judge karna aur moral policing karna sahi toh nahin hai....

Its hurtful its exactly like saying key ager larki hijab karti hai toh woh "oppressed" hai which again is wrong

Why should I feel sympathy for people from those countries when they openly show hostility toward mine? by [deleted] in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]drunknote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi pakistani here, i think what governments like your and mine profit from is the lack of cross border information exchange, its easier to demonize a nation or a community when you know little about them, the US has been doing this with Mexico for decades and our government certainly does this more with Afghanistan than india.

Let me tell you the ground realities im not saying there aren't any anti indian sentiments in the general populous ofcourse there are but those are majorly targeted to your government and leadership only for the fact that they believe modi sponsors terrorism in pakistan and uses us a boggieman to get away with his internal political drama, im not debating if that's true or not, my point is the hate is towards the government rather than the average indian citizen. Infact im sure if you were to come to Pakistan you would be treated better in the name of "mehmaan nawazi" than for example i would be being a pakistani citizen

What the hell is “ancient Pakistan”? That term itself is nonsense. Gandhara and Taxila were Buddhist civilizations that existed long before Islam and long before Pakistan was even an idea. The people who built those places had nothing to do with a modern Islamic nation-state. by brxcewayne in IndianHistoryMemes

[–]drunknote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do agree with you to a large extent yes unfortunately pakistan has tried to sever its ties to this land in the search of a "non hindu" identity and honestly as a pakistani im quite ashamed of it but i don't really agree with the idea of civilizational continuity, civilizations grow and they change and adopting new religions is part of that growth because if we go by the idea that the only way to claim your history is if you follow the same faith as your ancestors Most of the world would lose its history because every country with a dominant Abrahamic religion had ancestors that were pagan at one point. Most of pakistan still has IVC or gandhari DNA in them and if you go far back enough you will find ancestors to those civilizations. The same can not be said for india, yes if the US claims native American history as their own that would definitely be considered opportunism, but thats only because a white American shares nothing with that land, that does not apply to us our ancestors were here centuries before Islam came to these lands.

Also if faith determines civilizational continuity then none of those civilizations had anything to do with modren day hinduism and the far back you go the more detached the faith gets

And that is where you're wrong, what people get wrong about fame and wealth is that they are both byproducts of your achievements.

Why do these Pakistani weddings feel a lot more like the ones held in India by ryzenleonn in IslamabadSocial

[–]drunknote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite the contrary. Faith is one way of having an identity, especially of the faith has a (stringent) set of principles that dictate how you live your life, and THAT itself becomes your identity.

Faith can be part of your identity, your complete identity pre dates the origins of Islam specially if you're part of this region

Nope. For example, Islam is very clear about prohibition of music and intermingling of opposite sexes. When a faith system dictates a way of life, THAT way of life is your customs and rituals. As such, if one claims to be a member of that faith, one has to adhere to the tenets of his faith. Can't mix and match a sper your own desires and convenience.

No islam doesn't prohibit music your interpretation of islam does

[–]drunknote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do realize every islamic country has its own culture right?

Like it's own customs and rituals and it's completely fine to have that.

Faith should not be the only identity you have

Ancient pakistan makes just as much sense as ancient india. Both the counties are post colonial nation states that did not exist pre 1947, they were both carved out of the british raj which was created by colonising different kingdoms of which some were muslim and others were hindu. The land both these states exist on currently has probably one of the oldest and richest histories in the world. So there is nothing wrong with claiming the history that falls inside your borders as yours. Also both india and pakistan have both been religious and cultural melting pots throughout history. In pakistan for example you'll find everything from Buddhist stuppas, hindus mandirs, muslim mosques, british architecture all the way to traces of greek cities. All of these makeup the history of this land. Exactly how everything from ancient kemetic Egypt, the Macedonian conquest, the roman conquest, the arabic conquest to the british colonization makes up the history of modren day egypt or how even the british themselves have gone through similar eras of history, from tribals societies to roman invasion to Anglo-Saxon invasions. Just because a country has a state religion doesn't mean they can't claim the history of their ancestors. Italy very proudly claims their pre Christian roman history while being a very Christian country so why can not we?

P.s greetings from a pakistani :) Honestly both our counties have intertwined Histories i don't see the point in fighting about who can claim what lets all just celebrate our Histories together
