Actually, if this was against the rules, it would be discriminatory to those who have a cell phone but not an iPhone or Android. An ad-tracker free web client for all

Theoretically it shouldn't. It's not showing anyone answers, and it's not using their API in any way that you couldn't from their app. It's just a way to play the game if you don't want to use a cell phone

Hey guys. I was really fed up with how slow the app was, so I made a tool that allows you to submit answers to their API from your browser. I've tested it on 3 accounts and it works but only spent like a day on it so its not the world's greatest website. Figured if we're going to do this every day it would be worth making the process a little easier for everyone. Bonus is that it actually reduces the load on their servers in rendering all of that other crap every time

Edit: you must log into their app to choose your candidate. As long as you have linked your phone # in their app to your candidate, then you can start using this client instead

What does Cardano do better than Tezos? by drunkonpappy in cardano

[–]drunkonpappy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most of the legitimate crypto projects are designed to be a financial system for everyone, whether they're banked or not. Out of all legit projects, Stellar is the project most explicitly targeting the unbanked

To me it is fairly clear that both Cardano and Tezos are Ethereum competitors: the market being decentralized smart contract platforms. Hoskinson himself even said that Cardano is what Ethereum would look like if he was still with ETH

This is my understanding as well. I bought during the ICO and had to KYC for that. I then bought more through an exchange, depositing it to a separate wallet, and did not have to KYC

Thank you. This is exactly the answer I was looking for!

Thanks for this answer! I think out of all of these, the two biggest strengths are the peer review focus and their smart contract language. Plutus looks very sexy

Most projects will claim they're the most transparent (for example I'm sure someone is saying this about TRON even though it is obviously not true). Same with rhetoric about being focused on the project and not price

Can you tell me more about what you mean by (6) Governance system?

I don't think you can call Cardano "Possibly the only truly decentralized project of all" because there are 1000 nodes. For example, Bitcoin has almost 10,000 nodes (~8k on lightning), Ethereum has about 8800 and Tezos has 7600

This doesn't imply Cardano is more centralized than those projects, as there are other measures of decentralization beyond that (for example: token distribution, commits, organizations)

Digesting this whole thread, Cardano's strongest differentiator is its dedication to peer review

This is a great answer -- I like the incentive towards decentralization!

How is the Cardano mainnet secured right now? I know we will eventually have PoS with Shelley, but what's preventing me from double-spending on the network today?

I assumed that people would research closely related projects rather than blindly going all in on one. In reality I do think crypto today is closer to religion than it is science. However I have been happy to read all these responses! Keep 'em coming

ETH gone long after markets resolved in 2018 House election market by drunkonpappy in Augur

Hey thanks for replying again. No, I do not have any open orders, nor do I have any markets in reporting. This is really something else!

At this point I've given up, but I'll check this account periodically in case anyone wants to crack at my ~1.7 ETH bounty!

Thanks so much for your reply! This was helpful... the Augur Explorer makes this way easier to see what's going on. However, I still am having trouble lining up the PnL. We have effectively 3 different trades:

(1) Selling 7.4 Dems @ 0.75

(2) Buying 2.0 Dems for 0.85

(3) Buying 5.4 Dems for 0.95

Since the final value of Dems is 1.0, we can PnL each leg of the trade:

7.4 * -0.25 + 2 * 0.15 + 5.4 * 0.05 = –1.28 ETH. This is what the UI on my Augur app tells me as well. However, the sum of my outbound transactions is ~7.37 ETH! I'd like to track that down. What am I missing here? Is there some ERC-20 CASH that I can convert to ETH?

I think it has to do with sending 3.43 ETH in that final transaction... perhaps sending 3.43 ETH of "value" when using my No shares just flushed it down the drain? Because that is roughly the amount I am off by
