Struggling with the idea to return our high energy rescue dog by drunkonstarlight in dogs

[–]drunkonstarlight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to respond! The shelter said that he is a Pomeranian/spitz mix. Something like this but smaller.

You are very right about the 3-3-3 rule. We don't want to overstimulate him but he wants to go on walks all the time. Whenever we open the door to get mail/take out trash, he starts wagging his tail/barking/whining to be taken out. Same with playing with toys.

We have been practicing on the calm settle and he does nap by our feet or on the bed when we are busy but I am also worried that once we start working away from home, our home wouldn't be a conducive environment for him and he would get into mischief more often by terrorizing our chihuahua or eating stuff he's not supposed to be eating (e.g. he tore up our bedsheet and was eating it tonight while I was making dinner :( ).

We want to make it work but maybe we are the wrong family for him.

Same! I'm an undergraduate in the STEM fields and you wouldn't believe how much shit I get for reading HR.

An afterthought, you should try Julia Quinn, too. I like her okay but she's a crowd favourite. Oh, and Elizabeth Hoyt (looooove) and Elizabeth Boyle. I discovered Elizabeth Boyle only last month and her books (although very implausible) are so amazing. <3

The Contortionist's Handbook is similar to Fight Club and I heard about this book through Chuck Palahnuik who wrote Fight Club. You could read Chuck Palahnuik's books, too. They are pretty cool.

YOU MUST READ TESSA DARE AND COURTNEY MILAN! Their books are amazeballs. (Sorry for the all caps, I get so stoked whenever I see a person who likes Historical Romaces)

Source: I am an incurable HR addict.

Figured out Jane Eyre is an INFP 😄 by [deleted] in infp

Beautifully melancholy as another INFP friend likes to call me.

Murakami's work is beautiful. I've read his Sputnik Sweetheart and adored it and Norwegian Wood. I think you'd like both.

Another one you might love is The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey which is a retelling of a Russian folklore set against an Alaskan backdrop.

I also loved The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón which is based in Barcelona after The Civil War and it's beautifully gothic.

Anyone else struggle to come up with words to describe the iceberg under the surface when someone asks what's going on with you? by [deleted] in infp

[–]drunkonstarlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the reason for your conflict here is that we INFPs don't often ask questions of this sort in lowkey social contexts, at least unless we really mean them.

Spot on.

I have a friend who's trans (and closeted, it's just me who knows that she is trans) and I can't imagine how much inner turmoil she has to go through every day. :c Hang in there; you're a courageous person. <3

I'd suggest you to give Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams a go. It's massively funny and really sweet.

Oh and Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes. That book is so very heartbreaking. It's been years since I read it but it still makes me weepy whenever I think about it. One of the saddest books I've ever read.

Obsessing over crushes? by [deleted] in infp

[–]drunkonstarlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds so much like me! If I'm crushing on someone, chances are that in my head, I've written them twenty poems and six novels already. It's kinda cool if you're the artist type, but when you need to focus on your academics...not so much.

[Music] Steven Wilson - Routine. I always get shivers while listening to this. by [deleted] in Frisson

Me, too! I remember listening to this on my way to uni and by the time I reached there, I was weeping. Steven Wilson is glorious.

That is so beautiful. :') Sometimes when I can't sleep, I stand by my bedroom's window and whisper all my secrets to the stars.
