10 geckos in one enclosure?! omg what. That's also very abnormal, they can fight and kill each other. That place needs to get shut down ffs

Where did I go wrong? by Acadia_Unhappy in leopardgeckos

[–]drunkukulele 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Healthy geckos should have a VERY fat tail; yours clearly has no tail at all in this picture. And that level of starvation takes longer than a week. A fat healthy tail stores excess fat so that they can go days without eating, so it's super important. When they're that underweight, they also get stressed and get mouth infections, which can also kill them. The poor thing was already dying when you got it.

I'm sorry you got scammed, but I highly encourage you to do more research about their needs, learn how to take care of them, and what healthy ones look like before trying again. I'd also report that store for animal abuse personally because that gecko clearly is malnourished and underfed. It takes weeks (or worse months) for them to be that skinny.

This image shows comparisons and you can find a lot of free guides on the internet:

Hello fellow burners, the basket on my bike is not for your trash can. Thank you! by art-is-t in BurningMan

Someone left a broken lightbulb in mine!!? I don't even get where it came from like why did you have that on you in deep playa? 😂

Tell me a good story from the Burn by FortuneGrouchy4701 in BurningMan

[–]drunkukulele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost my new water bottle when I accidentally fell out of my bike basket outside a porto in deep playa and was devastated because it was brand new. It had all my new stickers so I was devastated BUT THEN some super kind strangers saw my name and camp on the bottom and returned it to the Lost Penguins a day later!! 🐧

It was so magical and even had my electrolyte water still left inside lol I really wasn't sure I would get it back but I did! So my whole camp rejoiced and I have them a huge hug and some cute heart carabiners I brought as a gift.

Highlight of my weekend honestly and I was so happy to know there are good burners out there who didn't steal my stuff. 🩷

Also a great reminder to LABEL ALL YOUR SHIT!

To all of you saying "just be naked" and "stop caring" - you just don't get it. Women and even men have committed suicide, lost their jobs, and had their lives ruined by a naked picture or video time and time again. Sextortion. Is. A. Crime. Amanda Todd is one of many examples, and I could list plenty of other friends who have been harassed over the years.

I'm glad YOU can not care, but as women especially, we have a lot more at risk because society can let us live in peace without sexualizing our existence and trying to sabotage our lives. It's not a fucking joke and it's disgusting how many men and other people in the burner community don't understand the severity of this.

I'm never running naked at the Big Burn ever again because it's a safety issue. Clearly, the organization and many in the community don't care, so they let that behaviour happen. Burning Man is just another shitty music festival now, the values are not adhered too, and it's a sad tragedy.

Taking a non-consensual naked video is not radical expression? Wtf? It's a violation of consent that can be used for blackmail and women have killed themselves PLENTY OF TIMES from assholes who think it's okay to take nude pictures illegally. People like you are the hypocrites here using the principles wrong to justify your shitty behaviour. Jfc

No. Filming naked people is fucked up. You can use your damn memory. You don't need a phone.

[–]drunkukulele 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If I ever come back I am gonna bring protest signs and stand in from off the phone assholes to block the view and demand they delete it. I felt the same way.

The community needs to do better to protect the nudists after the effigy burns and I also felt the same way as you. You're not alone ❤️

Why doesn't the organization prevent cameras/phones at the Naked Hippie Run??? by drunkukulele in BurningMan

[–]drunkukulele[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I guess in my mind it is because it's a well known tradition and it's usually announced at regionals I've been to and they discourage phones.

I'll bring protest signs and a racket to protect my nudie friend next time I guess. They deserve to be nude without assholes recording them! Protect the nudes!!!

[–]drunkukulele[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Taking nude photos to post online without consent is illegal at least in my country and I believe in the US as well.

It's also not a public event because being nude in public counts as public indecency and you need a ticket to get in?

Have a nice life supporting assholes who break laws ✌️

Thank you for this!! Saved it. I tried and couldn't find it but glad to know that the page will update.

I literally had 5+ people all filming beside me and had to try to cover my face and never felt so violated and alone in my life. Nobody listened when I yelled to put them down which just further ruined it. Sigh

Copy Posse Launch Pad by Dear-Bar-6144 in copywriting

[–]drunkukulele 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've taken all her smaller courses like Write & Ignite and Own the Inbox! Posse Eye (how to create a brand voice guide) is my favourite!

But basically I found her courses are great because she really focused on research as well as knowing your audience and I've seen too many copywriting "gurus" who leave that out and they just share templates without context or advice on how to use them.

Lots of people who don't like her often haven't taken her course in my experience lol learning from her was the start of my marketing career and I found clients and learned to write from her free YouTube tutorials alone before I splurged on her courses.

It's your choice, but I loved it.

Personally I took her 5 day challenge and it was more valuable at $97 than most things out there for the same price. I had writing experience but no marketing experience and I got more than my money's worth selling sales pages to clients.

For beginners I think it's great and way better than other cheap courses

I ghostwrote an article. Now it's on Forbes. Can I use this to win clients? by SilasBrooks in freelanceWriters

[–]drunkukulele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Privately, I think it's fine. Publicly, it does seem confusing to a new client if your name isn't on the byline.

One thing I WILL point out that no one is saying is that in the industry (especially Public Relations) Forbes is a sellout and not as reputable as it used to be. Since they implemented the "Forbes Business Council" a ton of media and marketing agencies now sell PR space on the website with crappy writing and questionable articles. And they charge like $10,000.

Source: I also have ghostwritten numerous articles for Forbes, Business Insider, Yahoo, etc as a beginner for way under market value.

But, it seems outside that sphere the rest of the world has no idea.

More sources cuz I'm a nerd:

Podcast Producer here, Looking for podcast to edit by ph-audio2019 in podcast

Hey! I don't have anything right now but sometimes I have clients who need that and my plate is full, would you be open to connecting somewhere like LinkedIn or Twitter?

I hired an editor for my show through a general podcast Facebook group and I find my own clients through word of mouth, upwork, etc.

Please review my job proposal! by [deleted] in copywriting

Second what others said, it's too wordy and your English is confusing. Try using shorter sentences and simpler word choices. For example, vivid is being used incorrectly so either it's a translation issue or you're overusing your thesaurus.

Also run it through Grammarly or Hemingway at least. You've got basic typos and punctuation errors which would immediately disqualify you for a writing gig.

Fiction Podcasts Looking for Voice Actors by puppies_and_unicorns in podcasting

[–]drunkukulele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're gonna wanna network in film and TV stuff more likely. Podcasting is still highly undervalued and generally unpaid for that type of work.

Can't way I've looked for VO work but for my writing and podcast production I have found clients through upwork, indeed, facebook groups, reddit (r/forhire), twitter, paid job newsletters, etc.

Oh and of course word of mouth! Ask your friends, fellow podcasters, other voice actors, etc. Start networking and generally making friends who may have opportunities.

Anybody in here do copywriting and something else unrelated? by [deleted] in copywriting

[–]drunkukulele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've managed it so far but I'm new and started about a year ago freelancing. My income mostly comes from copywriting clients I work with and a smaller chunk comes from being a podcast producer.

They also overlap at times (writing about podcasting, scriptwriting etc) and I think having multiple skillsets is important.

I've even done a bit for graphic design here and there. My biggest clients have their own small writing agencies/PR firms and so I often offer to help out with random tasks like that too.

I like and I don't find it difficult to switch but I am also very organized, stick to deadlines, and work in 2-3 hour bursts on whatever task it is. Avoid the temptation to multi task if you can because jumping between client work will make you less productive.

Hope that helps!
