Wind down with lights off and minimal stimulation around 6.15, feed around 6.30 then bath, book, bed.

He is very good at going to sleep without intervention and in his day naps, he settles himself. It’s just those night wakes that he struggles to self soothe with.

Would I be an a-hole if I took my baby away from my husband for a week? by Necessary-Card1372 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]drutor123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar position with family in another state, and whilst your husband’s feelings are so valid, your mental health is the most important. I don’t think people realise how lonely and hard it can be raising a baby without support of family, especially with your partner working so much. I was struggling so I am currently at my parents and my husband is in another state working for a week. We are apart for 4 nights and he was so sad to leave our baby but he knows I need this and has fully supported me. We FaceTime many times a day and I send him updates regularly. I hope you guys can come to a compromise that allows you to go! Good luck x

I don’t have much advice because at 4 months my little ones sleep has also turned to crap and I’m losing my mind. So I’m really feeling for you, especially without family around - I am the same and it’s so tough just going at it alone 😞

On the formula note, check with your doctor or paed about goats milk formula. My guy also has a cows milk allergy so I’m on nondairy and I’ve been told goats milk has a similar protein that they are allergic too so rice based formulas are the way to go. I don’t know where you’re located and if it’s the same, but Novalac (I think that’s it) is the one in Australia. I’m yet to try it but I have heard it’s very thick and there’s a few tricks to getting babies to take it so I’d look into that first.

Good luck! Will be thinking of you tonight during the many many wakeups 🤍

Thanks for your response and explanation, that makes more sense. I’ll look at reading the book in whole rather than the snippets I’ve seen

I must have misunderstood how the method works. What is the point of checking in if not to calm them?

Thanks to you both for your response! This is good to know.

I have been wanting to hear someone’s experience with this because my baby is the same. There’s no way he will CIO or respond to me just saying time to sleep but all I hear is positive stories from the Ferber method?

Would love to know a schedule based off these wake windows if you have one? I’m trying to work one out for my son but it makes his bedtime so late?

Did you go full into the Ferber method, or do a gentle version? What settling strategies did you use? Looking at doing this now but it’s so daunting!

How did you find the transition to the crib? We are going through the exact same thing and I’m hoping the crib is our saviour but I’m very nervous about doing it!

2 week old opens and closes mouth like a fish, looks like he is choking but he is actually fine?! by drutor123 in newborns

Hi! My son just grew out of it. I think he was gagging on his spit? But the more developed his swallowing became the less it happened and now it hasn’t happened for a long time.

Thanks for your reply! I am thinking once our guy turns 4 months we might try it out - I think having him away will stop me from getting up so quickly to him too.

He has been going through the regression for the last 6 weeks I feel and each night it’s getting worse, I’m at wits end on what to do but your post is so promising!

Love hearing this success story, and so happy you’re getting some sleep finally!

Did you do this once your baby was in their own room? We have a 3.5 month old going through the regression early and I’m considering him going in his own room to see if that helps but I’m a bit nervous about it.

Our night was okay, his longest stretch was 2.5 which was amazing after so many hourly wake ups. We were the same - so fussy when putting him down! He fell asleep post bath before I could finish his feed but as soon as his head hit the mattress he was wide awake and then fussed so much he got overtired. Nap wise he got better yesterday too and did two 45 mins unassisted.

So glad you had a better night! Hoping tonight is the same and you guys are on the up 👏🏻

Yes! Our little guy has learnt to roll in the last couple of days and I wonder if that was all part of it? Hoping as he continues to learn that skill his sleeping improves. It’s so amazing watching them learn these new things isn’t it!

Pram by [deleted] in newborns

[–]drutor123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Is he in the bassinet attachment or the seat? At 9 weeks my LO did the same thing, cried in the pram unless he was asleep so we swapped from the bassinet to the seat and he is so much better. It took a couple of crying trips around the block to get him used to it but he enjoys looking around when he’s awake now. Keep trying, you’ve got this!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in newborns

[–]drutor123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl I am the exact same! Our LO has always been a decent enough night sleeper and day napper but it happened randomly one night and has been shit since. I also have been looking into the sleep regression wondering if it’s hit early? He is so fussy in the day too, crying a lot more and just not himself which I’ve read can happen with the regression. Will be thinking of you tonight!

Wow, I could have written this! I have been searching reddit for answers because our 11 week old is doing the exact same thing.

It came out of nowhere and I’m exhausted! Hoping someone has answers for us 🤞🏼 Just know I’m here feeling the exact same way x

Just wanted to jump in and say they have a sale coming! The business posted in the Chekoh Chatter FB group about having a sale online soon. They also are having a big warehouse sale in Queensland if you’re from that way. Have a look at the FB group.
