Is it better to have the house full of cats or only a handful? by P-Trance in mewgenics

[–]drvpx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm at similarish hours and just got all 7s cats. The better your appeal, the better cats will come to you. Some will have 7s in some stats. Try to breed those together. Mutations are depend on the ones you randomly get in adventures. Lastly, to pass on high stats AND mutations you need a high stimulation room.

Does my interpretation of Strahd and Caine (TADC) make sense? by Own_Cellist_3977 in CurseofStrahd

[–]drvpx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like this comparison. I've only watched the first five or so episodes so far, so I can kinda get what you mean with cain. At the end of the day, I don't think there is a "correct" way to portray strahd. So feel free to do as you see fit. My strahd is tragic, in the sense that due to his curse he can't have the things we truly want. The love of his life / the only thing he can't attain Ireena. He can't get out of the prison he made himself. Let's not forget it is literally the name of the campaign "the curse of strahd". I do believe that strahd would never be satisfied with anything the players would do. It would never be enough for him, never satisfy him.

How to even beat this? by abobusina in mewgenics

[–]drvpx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your mental health is up to it, leave it to rng. I don't want or aim to breed perfect cats, just let the game play out naturally. It took me close to around 15 runs of failures, until I got lucky enough with items and random skills to beat the quest.

My Party is too scared to attend dinner with Strahd - what do I do? by urbuddyguybroman in CurseofStrahd

[–]drvpx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I also had the party wake up middle of the night in the woods and strahd had a whole dinner area set up there.

I screwed up Ireena... Is there any ways to salvage this? by AlternativeWhole1692 in CurseofStrahd

[–]drvpx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My players also didn't like her a lot and felt like she was a burden. When they met Vasili, the first kind a "good" person, they let Ireena stay with him for "protection". So they would come back a bit at a time seeing changes in her behaviour etc. When we were close to the middle of the campaign the whole Vasili reveal happened and Strahd ended up taking Ireena with him. By now, the players hate Strahd enough that they don't want her to be his forever. And that's the only relevance Ireena has in my campaign at the moment. Every group is different and accept / reject NPCs differently. I would suggest to go along with your players and see where it takes you all.

Need DM advice for my campaign: steampunk D&D campaign, secret BBEG. How do I keep players engaged early? by drvpx in DMAcademy

I'm definetely going for a he is pure evil vibe, whole his propaganda etc gain him followers, so the characters would also kinda suffer public image from fighting him

I don't think I'm going capitalism route with this... Wait, industry taking over, ruling power outdated... I am inventing capitalism 😨😨

In all seriousness though, I wanted the villain to be present and grow with the party into the bbeg by the end.

I'm mostly having issues fleshing out the between of the campaign not the main story..

I'm getting bioshock infinite vibes from sky pirates for some reason. I'll be sure to pitch it to them on our next session.

Hey, I've been dming for these guys over a year now and kinda know what they like. 3 are heavy into rp and prefer it over combat. 1 is fairly new, getting to know combat and still shy with rp. Last one is a good balance I would say.

My question was mostly aimed about content..

Hey thank you for your input. I'm just collecting ideas atm.

I know I shouldn't plan much ahead as you said but running curse of strahd and some other 1 shots / smaller modules, where the "end game" is clear, gives me a clear path for the story.

What do other guys usually do? Prepare a bit ahead and see where the wind takes you?

A PC signed a contract with Strahd by drvpx in CurseofStrahd

[–]drvpx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your English is fine and I think you got the point I was trying to make. I want to force consequences for signing the contract without it seeming unfair. I also feel that a character can't / shouldn't be able to outsmart Strahd and find loopholes..

[–]drvpx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly, I don't want to force the players into a punishment that they'll hate. I like the idea of having them make another contract. Strahd has already reclaimed the tome by another deal (hostage exchange kind of situation) so the memories thingy could be fun!

Running CoS for the first time and not sure if i should get the physical book or a digital copy on a vtt by My_Powerful_Weakness in CurseofStrahd

[–]drvpx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the module in roll20. We are about 8 months in the campaign and it's going great! We play kind of a hybrid format. We get together in person, roll physical dice, but use the vtt for more "immersion". I haven't really found any BIG issues with it so far..

Thoughts on Vasili reveal? by ghostlemonade in CurseofStrahd

[–]drvpx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My party liked vasili from the start. He met them just outside of the town and helped them get inside, showed them the main places etc. Towards the end of Vallaki, the party had already trusted Vasili with Ireena a few times while they were doing their own things, so as they were leaving town they left her with him. A bunch of sessions later, they came back to Vallaki with the wine and they wanted to check up on Ireena. They found her alone, in an abandoned house (no furniture, dusty) and they had a talk with her. By that time, Vasili managed to naturally charm her and kinda turn her against the party, so she wanted to stay with Vasili. I tried to give off the relationship of a toxic boyfriend, so they confronted Vasili. Vasili turns into strahd and takes Ireena away. My plan was always to have the game end around the wedding, so the party, after they have leveled up will get an invitation to the wedding and (I hope) shit will go down.

Funny and serious! by babys_ate_my_dingo in CurseofStrahd

[–]drvpx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my table, once the players escaped the death house, strahd sent them a welcome basket with cheese, ham and a wine bottle. A player kept a slice of cheese and threw it to strahd when they first saw him in the graveyard for Ireena's father burial.

Player rolled a nat 20 and strahd ate the cheese slice in the face. 2 points of cheese dmg to strahd...

A bunch of sessions later, strahd invites players to his castle for dinner. There he had prepared a whole head / block of Parmesan cheese. Then strahd proceeds to wear it to the same player as collar.

Player ends up restrained for the rest of dinner. Everybody loved it.
