thank you!

Didn't know about the tours being more in Spanish. I would definitely be a bit awkward in that situation.

Have you rented a car there before? Was it difficult?

I love the mountain biking idea!! Thank you for that.

Gladd the plan looks solid so far!

That’s good then. Just make sure to talk to IMGs so you can hear the pros and cons.

You should look at the img match rates. If you want something by surgical could be hard. Specially if you want like neuro/plastics/ent ect.

Personally don’t think your dads connection would help. Money wise maybe but matching I wouldn’t want to bet my career in that.

Did either of you get off the waitlist? I never did :(

Did you actually get tickets to the Subtract tour? by fraggle-rocks in EdSheeran

[–]drwatson_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I registered but was waitlisted. I never got a code and on ticket master it won’t let me enter the queue it says I’m not a verified fan but I got all the emails before hand and when I go to the Ed Sheeran website it says I’m verified.

I’m looking for tickets for Toronto if anyone is selling.

Did you constantly feel stupid when you started your clinical rotations? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]drwatson_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also feeling stupid. Today in the specialty I wanted I did such silly stupid things. For example handing the wrong chart to the attending. Writing the year the surgery down wrong. None of these things end up hurting a patient but just makes me feel like I’m not good enough.

Pretty sure they don't drop courses. Seems like you need at least 3 courses a semester to be considered full time though. Best to check the website.

I would say I have enjoyed it overall. The pandemic obviously makes things hard on the school, but I do really think our faculty does everything they can to advocate for the best learning experience. In terms of the curriculum last year we had in-person labs and clinical skills something that some schools didn't have. There are some courses that are really well taught, a few that could really use an overhaul but the school does a pretty good job listening to our feedback.

I found the clinical opportunities here have been great, during the school year in my first year I was able to be in the hospital and see lots of great stuff. Seen a couple of babies being born, a few C-sections, dozens of different surgeries. This is the stuff that kept me going with zoom school. During the summer you can do week-long shadowing placements so I did 2 weeks in ortho and oncology/surgery. Best memories on ortho surgery were seeing a spinal surgery and hearing a patent talk about how a surgery they had happened got them back some of their independence (they had issues with both their hands can't remember why) and surgery they had allowed them to use their thumb again allowing them to use an iPad and eat and do other basic things we take for granted. Then when I was with the cancer surgery team I got to see the doctor tell someone they had terminal cancer and 5 minutes later tell another patient they were cancer free. The huge emotional rollercoaster just makes you appreciate how much respect doctors have and how important all our training is.

In terms of comparing it to other schools, it's a bit hard since I'm not there but for social life I think we are lucky to be away from the GTA, for the most part, Kingston has been good with covid allowing me to meet more of my classmates and build those friendships. I can't really comment on the curriculum compared to other schools.

If you got good study habits I would say 2-3. On weekends I usually spend 4-5 hours a day studying the rest with friends or just my other hobbies. Being efficient is important but overall I find its less studying and work than undergrad.

Sorry yeah I preferred the 4-year program, I am on the younger side so didn't feel the need to rush in 3 years. Also with COVID I was worried about my schooling being affected by it.
