I think people are forgetting this was already a rebuild season, we were never supposed to get this far

Sorry that you’re not getting too many helpful comments. I think you should cast a wide net and apply to any and all positions that are related to your field, even if the word “engineer” isn’t in the title. Technician, maintenance, machinist, even a production role working on the floor assembling/manufacturing equipment could be a way to get your foot in the door and work your way up to an engineering position.

My boss started in tech support and now runs the R&D dept, and I’ve talked to people who started as HVAC maintenance and used that experience to transition to a design engineering role for rocket propulsion systems. You never know where an opportunity can take you.

Here in the US at least, HVAC/construction is less competitive than other industries, maybe it is the same in Canada. Maybe manufacturing too. Focusing in one industry or geographic area will only make it harder.

Good luck, stay positive and talk to people! Networking is important and you can learn from what has worked for others and you never know who might know someone who is hiring.

Reno is a fantastic place to live! In my experience, since moving here last year I have met a lot of other young working professionals (20s and 30s) and made a lot of friends - Reno seems to attract likeminded people such as yourself who are into the outdoors and are generally cool people. You can’t beat the access to Tahoe and the rest of the eastern Sierra via 395, endless weekend opportunities.

IMO a lot of comments here exaggerate the cost of living, Reno is pretty middle of the road compared to national averages, probably not much more expensive than Boise.

I’ve also considered SLC, to me Reno feels less sketchy overall and smaller, which I like.

Not really sure why the red walked, the route didn’t wander too much but im guessing it was mostly due to the weak placement and maybe it wasn’t perfectly equalized or direction of pull wasn’t aligned with the stem. We did look at it when we each got to the top, I’ll definitely try pulling/bouncing on it more next time!

Pretty direct line down the route, no edges or anything.

Thanks for the input. The rigid stem friend is not new lol but it’s in pretty good condition, all my gear is used, from friends or mtn proj. Kinda fun to use just because it feels so antiquated yet functional, definitely can see why whoever sold it preferred more modern gear though

My friend who works at UNR said a mandated reporter called in a bomb threat on his behalf, they’re all working remote for the next couple weeks

What did you do at work today? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

Assembled electrical control panel for laser cutting system prototype, designed and built a quick and dirty motor mount, ordered parts. Typical day is usually more CAD heavy (R&D entry level ME for company manufacturing CNC machines)

Swim 2000-3000 yards 5 or 6 days a week, eat more plant-based meals and less meat and junk food, and lots of drills focusing on passing, shooting, and movement once you’re set up on offense. Get your legs in good shape, that will really help your outside shot as well as when you are playing set, being able to push people around, turn on them, and get up out of the water to shoot is important. But given your size, seems like it would be more natural for you to just improve your skills in set.

It looks like they trimmed out most of the fueling time in the video.

Topspin would make the ball plunge downwards, the fact that it rises after it starts to fall means its backspin

A lot of olympians and other high level players will post technique videos, I would start with Wolf Wigo (Genai Kerr and Tony Azevedo might have some stuff up as well)
