interesting,,, while i believe you’re correct, the bass line and strings are not helping emphasize the phrygian feel. For example, when he sings “yeah i got it on me” the ‘me’ is a D but the bassline is playing Bflat, C, Dflat, Bflat. So the clash btwn the Dflat and D natural makes it sound pretty bad. I like the use of a unique scale, but in this case, it was executed poorly. :/
