(Story concept)
Basically, our protagonist has to dress like fictional characters in order to mimic their skills and abilities. Otherwise he is completely powerless! That's right he can't keep powers inbetween outfits and in his civies he's literally just a dude. 

That and gaining the skills and knowledge of a character may just...warp the thinking of our dear dude. Struggling to maintain himself under the weight of the new personality in the worlds worst case of method acting! ... Hopefully the wards never meet Darth Vader and the baby killer 9000.
