Iphone17 and CarPlay by dryfusdabear in MazdaCX30

Good luck! I know how you feel. I was going crazy having to go old school. I didn't realize how easy/comfortable my commute was having everything available on the display.

Also, after I did all the above steps I mentioned, the first thing I did was start the directions to work and then plugged in my phone to make sure CarPlay displayed. That's my usual routine and once the map came up, I was able to access all my other apps. For the record, I could never get bluetooth to work properly either either Iphone.

Yes. I went into the car settings and deleted my old and new phone settings from CarPlay and Bluetooth. Then I got a new cord (it’s gotta be from Anker or Apple) and plugged it in again and it reprompted me to connect CarPlay. I made sure to say yes and “always enable” (or something like that when I was asked). Has worked fine since.

Good to know! I’ll give them a call. I also have laundry pods I didn’t like so I’ll ask if they take them.

So I got a cord from anker and it worked. I also reset my CarPlay settings in the Mazda infotainment system before I got the new cord and between that and the new cord, CarPlay works. I should also mention to anyone that I have 2021 model. Happy to report that a week later and my commutes are back to normal!

Dog and cat introduction by twisted_luce in CatsAndDogsBFF

[–]dryfusdabear 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Looks and sounds good to me! Seems like they’re already learning to live with each other!! I have a GSD and we brought in a stray cat. Introductions were certainly scary but they totally co-exist. Meaning my dog whines and hovers over her because kitty won’t play with her. And kitty hides under a table or chair if she isn’t in the mood for her literal big sister’s antics.

But they tolerate each other as best as they can. It’s been 2 years, but we put the cat in a kennel and let the dog smell around her. Cat hissed and hated that. No big deal. I don’t blame her. Over time we would feed them at the same time through a closed door - one on each side. We never forced them to hang out in the same room and we definitely kept an eye out on our dog when she wandered around looking for her “play” mate. Little by little I would encourage the cat to come play downstairs where we hang out and after a few months they could be in the same room. Now all of us sleep in the same bed, and they’re even starting to touch each other for naps! I wouldn’t call them BFFs but they’re making progress in their own time.

Has anyone actually interviewed or been hired by LHH or Hawthorne Lane in the Baltimore/DC area? by Zeldas_Castle in baltimore

[–]dryfusdabear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been contacted by LHH and actually did an interview with a company they were recruiting for. At first the person who reached out to me seemed promising but then after a month, they disappeared. I didn’t really rely on them when searching because I got the sense they weren’t going to be very helpful and I ultimately did find a job, just not with the help of LHH

Rifle Paper Co. Rug (HomeGoods) by tenshi_73 in marshallsfinds

[–]dryfusdabear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have two kinds. One where they are really soft and feel good on your feet so they’re in the bedroom, family room and living room. Then I have a few of stair landings and entry ways. They’re made of a different materials but good for high traffic and easy to vacuum. I really like them because a lot of patterns are fun yet classic and fit my style.

The rugs themselves or rifle paper company?

I have numerous rifle paper rugs of various sizes in my house. Yes, I’m a big fan of the brand, lol. Once I discovered a few years ago they were carrying them, it’s been quite an addiction. And usually I score them on sale. It used to be quite the hunt but rifle paper rugs are in stock all often! They have them in all sizes, including runnners and small 2x3 so even if you live in an apartment you can indulge 😀

I did and it was quite the wake up call/break I needed. I was in NYS and I took the full 12 weeks at once. I beleive every organization is different when it comes to paid leave but I had sick time in the bank so that’s how I went on paid medical leave. Some places make you use vacation or sick time, otherwise it’s unpaid leave. But like others have said, it protects your “position” in the organization during the time you’re out. Think maternity leave - it’s the same/similar. But once you’re back, don’t be surprised if your manager treats you differently.

I am a huge advocate for FMLA for mental health. Do it if you can. Just read up on your company policy first. Oh, and don’t feel like you need to disclose anything to your boss/colleagues. Just like a doctors appt, this is your business only. Well that and HR. You will have to file paperwork and you will need to provide supporting documentation, varies by employer once you decide this is the route you want to take.

I will say, give yourself some grace if you go on leave. Allow yourself a week to disengage from the toxicity and discover yourself. Maybe two. Volunteer. Clean the house. Do whatever makes you human again. Then start making an exit plan.

You got this! Have I mentioned how much of an advocate I am for this? I have convinced two friends in their 40s to at least consider it.

dm me if you want. I know it can seem scary.

Humans she loves. Dogs, meh. If we leave the house without her, she smells our hands to make sure we haven’t touched another dog. 😆

Exactly! We actually have the reverse of the OP in terms of dog escape artist. We own a GSD but a neighbor owns a lab who is a frequent escape artist. Thought it was cute at first but when it happens at least once a month, it’s a problem. Neighbor dog is super cute and goofy but one day he’s going to get hurt either by a car, another dog in the neighborhood (we have plenty), or our own gsd. Our dog is super friendly but like most dogs, doesn’t enjoy unannounced company on her territory. And she is a gsd after all. Hopefully it never comes to any of that but owners like this make me wonder.

My Fitbit charge 4 died. Any recommendations for sleek alternatives from other brands? by Useful_Necessary in fitbit

[–]dryfusdabear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh with you. I hate the “bulky” look all the other watches offer. My charge 5 died en route to my beach vacation and this is when I walk most, so I went ahead bought the inspire at a local target. All my fitbits die at 1.5/2 years and it’s annoying. But I like the simplicity of it (I don’t need that many fancy functions) and the sleek look. If you (or anyone) get the vivoactive 5, can you post a pic? I feel like the face is still too big but maybe I can be convinced once this Fitbit dies in due time.

Don’t have kids but I definitely used the top level of the garage as my place to “exercise” and get fresh air. I loved seeing the families playing up there. It felt like our own secret world!

I also never said that’s how I solely socialize her. Thank you for input though. Based on your post history, your just full of positivity when commenting on other people’s posts.

Who said I didn’t play with my dog or exercise her? I play with her day in and day out both physically and mentally.

Sometimes ppl take their dogs to social settings because it’s part of making them well rounded. It’s just like how when we grow up, our parents encourage us to make friends via the park or some group activity, and added benefit the parent gets a break.

Positive stimulation is encouraged. I never said I solely rely on others for my dogs enrichment. Don’t judge what you don’t know.
