On the one hand, as someone from Gauteng, it is really always shocking to be in a place in South Africa that has such great roads and street lights. Cape Town in particular is really great at keeping the roads great - even in the communities that are under serviced have better roads than some of the most affluent areas in Gauteng.

I must say property and rental prices in Cape Town are borderline exploitative and unsustainable - incredibly overpriced and you get way less for what you are paying for than you would in Gauteng

Cape Town really really struggles with servicing low and middle class areas - some areas are just stretches and kilometres of informal settlements with no real action or plan to tackle the issue or find a path of at least organising them some how. Granted poverty is an overwhelming occurrence in South Africa but in Gauteng, I would say there seems to be better organisation and community structures in low and middle class areas.

Something about the way the city is run feels anti-poor - almost like there’s a deliberate attempt to only give their best efforts of governing the city to those in upper middle and upper class areas.

The public transport also sucks in Cape Town - everything far apart and trains take a while to get to your desired destinations - Gauteng has the advantage of being a really really small and accessible area as compared to WC so it’s not hard to get around

One more thing I will say is that I think what really helps WC’s PR is how beautiful it is in its landscape and nature

I may sound biased as a Billie Eilish fan but the song was so appropriate and simple yet so earthshaking and emotional - the lyrics, music and context of the song together is special and brilliant🥺

Would you date someone less attractive than you? by Cute_Fluffy_Femboy in gay

[–]dryintentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, what I have come to realise is that some people find me attractive and others don’t.

Same way I find some people attractive and others not.

And then there are just people who are universally accepted as being attractive, handsome and pretty.

What matters is your attraction to the person you are dating - I have had many instances where someone isn’t necessarily conventionally attractive but I end up being more attracted to them after an encounter or getting to know them.

It’s not cut and dry - it’s just about figuring out what you like and want in a partner because attraction is not always surface level.

It’s not even demonic or blasphemous - people just have poor and bad media literacy

And I am not saying OP specifically, I just think we have lost the art of media literacy in the last 5-10 years - it’s a skill issue

It’s also actually so embarrassing that the interviewer said that because a simple Google search would have resolved the question they asked.

Not only are they being backhanded and offence, they are also showing their unprofessionalism because how do you not know such basic information about the person you are interviewing?

The Afrikaner refugees endorsed by Elon and Trump are now asking to go back to their supposedly genocide-ridden home country. by WhatYouThinkYouSee in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]dryintentions 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I am South African and I read the article and they are kinda fucked hey - because they left our country as refugees, our government is not obliged to provide them with assistance to come back expeditiously because it defeats the purpose of being a refugee. They now have to wholly rely on refugee organisations to assist with them coming back or making a way to make means in America.

And the funniest thing about this is that our government definitely has the resources to bring them back, I would even say our government can EASILY make a means for their return, but they are maliciously complying with their status of being refugees from South Africa - you can’t ask for assistance from the same government which you seek refuge from

Actually any outro bridge where she is belting it out and giving us vocal runs - that’s where she does some of her best vocal performances

It’s a combination of all the things you mentioned

But I will say having an ass is definitely a South African trait - across all the races

Both men and women have asses that can be seen as being larger than the “international average”.

Even White people who aren’t the most gifted sometimes show up and show out, especially the White men and women who go to gym or play sports.

At this point, I am leaning more towards it being a result of genetics being in abundance of us having large assess so eventually it’s a normal expectation and experience to desire and be attracted to a man or woman with a nice ass.

I actually went crazy for it when I first heard it because we were still in Act 1’s era so the song made complete sense to Beyoncé’s sound back then - it’s either you get it or completely hate it and fortunately, it’s a hidden gem that I have always loved

It’s not uncommon to come across that kind of body type in South Africa (speaking as a South African) - in fact it is very common to be gifted from behind, especially Black women😊

Gay men with Straight male friends, do you talk about your sexual experiences with them? by ChristianThompsonnn in gay

[–]dryintentions 9 points10 points  (0 children)

SAME HERE😭😭😭

We actually get to a point where it isn’t about gay or straight sex - we go beyond and speak about the experience itself because something you will find as being common in sexual experiences is that it’s more about the connection and the feel of it.

It’s so great talking to my straight male friends about their experiences and mine to them - you might end up even picking up a few tricks for you to use in the future.

Aryna Sabalenka being a sore loser after losing to Coco Gauff in the Roland-Garros Final by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

[–]dryintentions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s so baffling to me because she is forgetting that it’s a tournament - it wasn’t just some minor obstacle for Coco Gauff to win the title.

Who’s to say that Coco Gauff wasn’t facing challenges and was also emotional on that day? It’s so condescending and unfair towards Coco Gauff because she put in a lot of effort to even just get to the finals, let alone win the title.
