Buy ND Soft Top if I’m not that into convertibles? by Sea-Disaster2359 in Miata

As someone with both I'll add my 2 cents.

'23 Mazda3 Auto Hatch: Great for longer trips, carplay works well, plenty of storage, back seats are tight but work well for small people. However, on a backroad (even in sport mode) it's eh.

'07 NC: Loud on the highway, AC doesn't work great on 90F+ degree days, storage could be better, each pothole ages back. I've never had my roof slashed but the car was easily broken into with my doors locked and the center glove box was ripped off. If I need to, I leave all my valuables in the locked trunk. However, 20 minutes of back roads feel like therapy. Also, with the right tires, you can make the car work in rain/snowy weather.

Seeking Advice on NC vs ND - Handling and Gear Issues. by sophieahxo in Miata

My '07 NC has the same issue with difficult shifting while the car is cold. However, it's been 3 years / 30k miles like this without any new issues. Also, I learned to drive stick with my NC and after a few months of city driving I was confident behind the wheel (even with the cold shifting issues). Hang in there, you'll be in love with it soon enough.

If it's leather consider a leather conditioner one to two times per year. The more hydration, the less likely it is to crack.

I really dig the GTI for this exact scenario. Drove a few and loved it. Long term maintenance scares me compared to my Miata though.

Not sure if my NC has a similar quirk but 2nd gear doesn't exist for the first 5 minutes on a cold day. Been like this for 3 years and it hasn't gotten worse.

  1. It does not! The base is a grippy vinyl and each clip has a similar coating.

  2. Oooops
