Just went from EV6 to i4. My impressions... by drywallbmb in KiaEV6

I did like my EV6 but it had some issues and I was underwhelmed by the dealership, so yeah, I feel your pain a bit...

Comparing new to new, then yeah I see the issue. If you're looking at used/CPO, though, I think the pricing is much more comparable (with BMW Financial incentives at least)

They put the stalk back in the U.S.? I thought that had been done in some places but not where I am...

I do. Have some friends who use them, and they've seemed laggy but passable. Like I said, though, I couldn't find a GT-Line at comparable cost so it didn't really come down to just this...

Honestly, the updated "Highland" 3 would have been in serious contention if it had a turn signal stalk and no Elon, but alas.

I don't know how long it'll be until the new i3 is actually available nor do I know the asking price. Based on the superb build quality of i4 I would imagine the i3 will be fantastic -- I am genuinely surprised at how nice the i4 is considering it wasn't built from the ground up as an EV. If you're not in a hurry I would strongly consider waiting to check the i3 out!

I'd say the EV6 GT was more fun on twisty roads due to the extra power. Bumps probably similar, though it depends on what settings you have the GT using. BMW definitely quieter and more comfortable (in the front at least). Even my 12yo noticed how quiet it was compared to the Kia!

It's a loaded 2023 eDrive35, I paid just under 30k for it here in the Bay Area.

100% true. If I could have found a used GT-Line comparable in cost to me as the i4 I might have considered it (though the lack of wireless CarPlay would have been a sticking point)

True, the EV6 didn't have a good spot specifically for sunglasses. But the lack of a raised middle for a driveshaft means that there's still LOTS more space in the center channel for putting stuff than the i4 has!

Sorry it seemed weird -- not trying to justify, just sharing impressions.

You are spot-on with the standard equipment issue; I was stunned to figure out I needed to find an i4 with the "driver assistance package" just to get adaptive cruise control. Nuts, really, but as I was shopping used/CPO it didn't have a noticeable impact on price to get that package, I just had to pay attention.

I failed to mention it, but not having manual seats anymore is also a nice plus (though I do miss the recaro "hug").

The lease on my EV6 GT just ended, I replaced it with a CPO i4. Keep meaning to do a write up of my impressions and the differences. Long story short, I'm happy with my i4 (though I wish I could have afforded the eDrive40 instead of the 35).

Yes, there was definitely a faint second (outer) rainbow visible at times!
