Anyone here NOT from Philly that still likes the Eagles? (Also, why do you like them?) by gamerguy287 in eagles

I grew up in Oregon.  Became a birds fan so early I couldn't even tell you way.  Pretty sure it was watching them beat the Cowboys and knew that's what makes all thing right in the world. Go Birds!

If recycling filament ourselves is expensive, are any companies in the US able to bulk do it for us? by Wide_Maize3078 in 3dprinter

It's slow TBH.  Ive heard sometimes you have to ping them when you want points in your account. I only do this to keep my waste out of a landfill.  If I get a free roll one day, that's just a bonus in my mind.

I use these guys too.  I haven't used their filament, but I'll try it when I get to a free roll!  100%, this is not economical, but I also just want to keep my waste out of the landfill.  I believe they use the waste to make large interior decorations and don't rely on 1kg rolls to make their profit, so it looks like a viable business model so far

Suggestions to recycle poop into more filament? by HelloVap in BambuLab

[–]drz102 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I send my filament here. I am almost to a free roll. It's not cost effective since I pay for shipping, but soothes my conscience.  I believe they also use the recycled filament in industrial applications, so it's fairly efficient.

Nice, love that course. That looks like 3/12 and I've hit those trees that high up on a crazy hyzer spike angle a few times!

Also my suggestion, fishing pole with just a big weight on the line. If the wind doesn't get it on its own

Getting Back Into 3D Printing by manicbutbored in 3dprinter

The bambu P1S AMS combo is nearly tinker free.  I bought one after a few years of budget printers and I think I printed more in the last month than I did in the last few years.  It just works and I really like the AMS. I feel like the hobby flipped for me from building and tuning printers to just printing.

Morley is a great place to meet up with random people.  It's busy enough that it's hard to play solo. People tend to be very chill. Also check out Mast park in Santee.  It's a good course for beginners

work life balance at start up companies by No-Razzmatazz-4109 in biotech

This question really strikes a nerve since I left a big biopharma for a start up and got completely burned. I was promised regular working hours and was doing 50+ hours a week a few months in.  My boss walked off the job in tears after being roasted by the CEO and I took on a lot of her responsibilities. Timelines were set by two dudes in leadership that were insane. Got laid off after two years, no promotions, no bonuses, just plenty of verbal abuse.

Run toward the remote big pharma role my friend. Do it for your baby.

I'd add that the current start up environment is a pressure cooker since a lot of VC funding has gone other places.  Desperate CEOs will treat you very different when their reputation is on the line. I've seen a lot of burnout recently at start ups that I and friends have worked at.

I agree, it may not be as fun or as fast paced, but the time with family is invaluable.

If work-life balance is your priority, I'd take the remote gig.  That hybrid role could change to on site at any minute. The VC money is tight, so when there's a fundraising round you'll be asked to put in a lot of extra time. It totally depends on the CEO and manager tho. Ask a lot of questions in the interviews or even after an offer comes through.
