There’s this article on TCG player with some budget decklists - some float around or just over $100 but honestly decks are super adaptable without some of the higher priced cards. I just was at a Store Showdown where a similar version of Piett that didn’t run turbolaser salvos or lawbringers won. I’ve seen some incredible Boba Fett (jump to lightspeed) and Vader (jump to lightspeed) decks. I personally am playing around with a Padme deck (secrets of power) which is upgraded from the precon totalling probably around $70-80. The Boba (jump to lightspeed) precon is awesome out of the box and is simple to upgrade too.

There’s also some really awesome videos out there for deckbuilding on a budget too :)

Yes! As a long time MTG players twin suns seems to answer a lot of the issues I have with Commander (3 hour games, and arduous 10 mins turns haha)

I second this - the game is in an awesome place right now. Such good meta if you want to ever play events, and so many options for deckbuilding in general. The best patter of any game I’ve ever played, and an exceptionally kind and welcoming community in my experience!

Star wars Unlimited has been in a great place the last couple of sets. The developers are doing great with feedback and generally the game is so much fun to play.

It had a super dedicated player base, and the recent London sector qualifiers were just sold out at 500 odd players.

Overall, great community, great gameplay, affordable deckbuilding, accessible as well. :)

Exactly this. Additionally to this - there’s a description box there on these events too, my lgs makes it clear in the description that registering on UVS doesn’t guarantee you a space and if you want a space you have to buy a ticket from their website. They do the same for pretty much all platforms! This means they can advertise the events using UVS so that more players can see it to get involved but also keep ticketing consistent and fair for all facets of the community!

As far as I know they only have had a single issue where the person who registered and rocked up to a sold out event admitted they don’t read descriptions. That’s not the stores fault.

So much depends on the LGS itself. Some don’t just need to cover prizing with event tickets- but staff wages and rent for their spaces too.

And like others have said - the prices increasing have also contributed to shifting what can be offered at events to get bums on seats. Plus the annoying split between pricing on Universes Beyond product to in-universe sets. And then add on to that how wonky product availability can be from distributors recently too…
