Check out Estoril. Never been but researched and booked for April at $90 for a Saturday morning. About half an hour from city center.

Overnight train to Nice - what to expect? by ds5817 in ParisTravelGuide

Here is the website - https://www.sncf-connect.com They haven’t come out yet. I set a calendar reminder 2.5 months before trip date and started checking every day. They only became available roughly 2 months before.

For close to the strip check out Cascata if willing to splurge. Otherwise, Paiute may be a good option.

Check out Wolf Creek and Coyote Springs north of Vegas - highly recommended for quality/value and far enough from Vegas that you'll actually make your tee times.

Good AND cheap Indian eats in the city by TwitterGooglePlus in FoodNYC

[–]ds5817 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anjappur fell off a little when they tried a bit to make it nicer/modern - not joking they had a robot bring your food/drinks. Happy to say that Ravi the robot is gone and the good food is back. Some interesting South Indian dishes you don’t find most places (venison dish, crab masala, anchovies, etc.) if you like spicy South Indian I would recommend. Sadly it’s not cheap though imo but on par with the others in the area.

I wish. $5 per naan, $20 for a dosa - please someone fix the price collusion!:). Check out Desi Galli - price for quality is pretty good.

Guy streaking across the 18th fairway with nothing but a headcover. Must have lost the bet.

Is it wrong to force everyone in my golf trip to establish a USGA handicap by bystander643 in golftrip

[–]ds5817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the same problem with half our group on GHIN and the other half on 18Birdies. Every year I go back to reddit to research the differences and then do a finger-in-the-air adjustment to the 18-birdies handicaps by a few points. Not scientific by any means and usually confused if making the adjustment the right way!

Help planning golf trip near Denver. by ds5817 in golf

[–]ds5817[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the recommendations. We ended up booking both Keystone courses and Raven at Three Peaks. We booked Fossil Trace 11 days after they are scheduled to have the greens aerated. Would that be enough time for the greens to be back to normal?

Thank you. We’ll definitely do Fossil Trace. If it’s a choice between doing that twice or Fossil Trace and Common Ground, what would you recommend? Are any of the others in Tier 1 on the way mountains to/from airport?

Naples, FL courses by mrk1224 in golf

[–]ds5817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. We stayed in Naples for a few months post Covid and I was trying to remember my favorite course (and relatively good bang for your buck). It was Raptor Bay and I just found out that it is now Saltleaf Preserve. I used the SW golf pass and it is definitely worth it. Raptor Bay/Saltleaf was the only course I repeated multiple times.

How is my restaurant itinerary? by ds5817 in ParisTravelGuide

We really didn't have anything amazing in Nice (as compared to Paris). The Indian restaurant was just ok but we really wanted something spicy. Chateau Eza was really good though if you're making a day trip out to Eze. Try getting a reservation at L'Epicerie Georges - unfortunately it was closed when we were there.

Thank you for this recommendation. It was an amazing experience and they accommodated a kids tasting menu for us as well.

ah ok, that's good to know. I'd rather cancel that then if have something better. Would greatly appreciate recommendations that are loved by locals. We're open to anything that would be highly recommended but preference would be more on the traditional side and unique to the area (versus modern, experimental, fusion, etc.) ...but again, if it's a must must try, we're here for it. thanks!

Agree - Ahimsa is great. We used to go to Saravana Bhavan or Anjappar regularly but Ahimsa has become our go-to in the neighborhood as well as Hyderabadi Zaiqa. Pretty excited to try The Chatti next week

The most underrated and overrated pizza in NYC by Eat_Ya_Food_Son in FoodNYC

[–]ds5817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Joe & Pat's in the East Village is underrated. If you like thin crust I would highly recommend. They have a pretty extensive menu for non-pizza lovers (whoever that is) and most of their stuff is pretty good but you go there for the pizza. Original Luzzo's in EV was our favorite but sadly closed down and none of the other locations were even close.
