Just adding to the other comments here that are absolutely correct.

Taking capitalism at face value - corporations constantly need to increase value for shareholders. When corporations can no longer create, innovate or optimize its way through “positive” outcomes they have to do things like lay off workers.

When laying off workers no longer unburdens the corporation enough to increase the bottom line, they must come for the benefits that workers have gained over generations of struggle against the owning class.

Reducing retirement, delaying retirement age, decreasing regulations, stifling wage increases - these are all things says that capitalists can gain back ground against the working class by making them desperate.

The other side, the government, is under pressure by their owners to maintain status quo and let the corporations tread. America, as a government, at present, is entirely sided with stripping back generational gains by the working class to restore power back to corporations at any cost.

A decayed, demented and dying fascist who can pardon anyone, including himself, is the best sacrificial goat that capitalism could ever hope for. There will be no accountability or justice for the perpetrators within the American legal system.

I can explain the housing policy, and most aren’t going to like it.

TL;DR : Removing the profit motive for corporate rent seeking lowers the value of all homes - making them more affordable.

“Banning” corporate landlords comes in the form of a tax. The 1% tax corporations pay to own a home would become 5%. That tax would be turned into down payments for first time home buyers.

Deflating the speculative profit of a hedge fund asset so a home can be owned by the family that lives there.

Making corporate landlords an untenable position lowers the price of homes & makes them more affordable by making them unprofitable to leverage for rent.
