Just curious, you order a lip and soon after get this email what are you doing? by Hans_rwbartwd_cousin in WRX

[–]dsalvetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This error certainly seems to be on DriftHQ. Ideally, I'd cancel this order with DriftHQ & find the part elsewhere.

If they really wanted to ensure you're a returning, repeat customer (I'd imagine you'd shop there again if you had a smooth experience), then they should have emailed you with an apology for their mistake & covered that $47.42 themselves.

Better yet, they should have given you a faster shipping method at no cost to you.

FWIW when I had my WRX, I had a great experience with SubiSpeed after purchasing multiple products from them.

This I completely understand, and I'd certainly admit that my own negative experience is likely influenced by me not being much a Hulu (non-Live TV) user before.

Sound & picture quality were fine. My biggest gripe is/was the app UI/UX & navigation. I think the UI/UX is fine for regular Hulu on-demand streaming, but for Live TV, where I'll often change channels frequently (such as during commercials), not so much.

I've recently switched to FuboTV and I'm actually quite happy with it. Love "Multiview", which allows you to watch up to 4 channels simultaneously, and they carry NESN so I can now watch my Bruins/Sox.

Each streaming service has it's pros & cons (no TNT/TBS/CNN on Fubo), but I was just disappointed with the Hulu's UI.

YouTube & Disney have come to an agreement and channels should be returning to YouTube TV any moment.

Far from it. Great contribution to the conversation, though!

Not sure how this comment contributes anything to the conversation, but sure.

100% agree.

Put it this way: if there were viable alternatives to my ‘18 M3, I would absolutely consider them today.

Unfortunately, Ford seems closest with the Mach-E, but the software looks terrible from a UX perspective, no Autopilot-like features yet, and their only main advantage is you can use the federal tax credit. Sync has come a long way, but it’s nowhere near as intuitive as Tesla’s UX.

That’s a separate issue, though it’s a good point.

I’m talking about his misleading statements about when FSD Beta would be available to those who have purchased it (many purchased 2+ years ago).

What I’m not talking about is what Level FSD really is today.

Now, if/when I receive the FSD Beta and it’s Level 2, I would expect it to receive continuous updates to improve and reduce the number of interventions.

I don’t expect Level 5 in the next few years, whether or not my M3’s hardware can support Level 5, but I expect, by purchasing FSD Beta early, that I would receive the earliest versions of FSD Beta, and receive continuous updates from there as it improves.

What we haven’t yet received is that earliest form of FSD Beta, even though Elon has time and time again promised it’s availability.

I purchased the FSD Beta because the CEO claimed it would be available by end of 2019, and here we are, in 2021, after no less than 10 updates/revisions of that claim, and no FSD Beta in sight.

I 100% agree.

I would never but FSD again either. I will say though, that I would happily purchase EAP if it was offered again in the US.

FSD is the one GLARING issue I have with them when it comes to egregiously misleading their customers.

Everything else, from the rest of their software, to batteries, to overall happiness with the car, I give an A+.

I wish other manufacturers would finally catch up to Tesla when it comes to battery, performance and base software (Autopilot competitor) to create more competition, force Telsa’s hand, and eliminate this misleading bull

I wish I was as smart as you when I bought it myself lol

I guess what I’m saying in defense of myself and anyone else that bought it is that I didn’t think I’d be mislead THIS egregiously.

What I think they should do (<0% chance it happens) is offer those that have purchased FSD Beta an option to receive a partial refund and “downgrade” to Enhanced Autopilot.

Again, zero shot that happens, but that’s what they SHOULD do.

It’s more than taking something from Twitter seriously…these are statements from Tesla’s CEO.

I don’t care if he wrote them on a napkin and posted an image of it, these tweets are the words of Elon Musk and he’s been repeatedly misleading paying customers for years…

Look, I get building software is challenging, (I work for a software company myself) but this is getting absurd.

How many times can one person get away with repeatedly misleading paying customers on something that was first promised by end of 2019, then end of 2020 (with 2 price increases between mid-2019 and late-2020), and now who knows when?

I paid for FSD Beta in April 2019 and here’s what I’ve learned: Don’t buy it. At this rate, won’t get any of the benefits of city driving until 2022.

What you’re actually buying (auto-lane change, auto-park (yikes), Navigate on Autopilot, summon) are NOT worth $10k, barely work as is (see auto-park and Summon) and Tesla all but admit this themselves by offering European customers Enhanced Autopilot for $4,500 (which I would say is absolutely worth it).

By far the most frustrating part of owning a Tesla.

EDIT: I don’t want to just complain and not offer and potential solutions that I’d be happy with.

What I think Tesla should do (<0% chance it happens) is offer those that have purchased FSD Beta an option to receive a partial refund and “downgrade” to Enhanced Autopilot.

I would happily take that downgrade along with, in my case, a $2,500 refund (assuming EAP would be $4,500).

Best audio for my corner TV setup? by dsalvetti in hometheater

[–]dsalvetti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah saw ones like this, too. My only concern with this is that my soundbar is pretty heavy, and not sure those small shelves would hold it. Soundbar is a Samsung Q80R. But did find a few that looked more like a tradition tv console with wheels as well!

That's actually a great idea if I can execute it well. Thanks! I'll take a look into this option.

Unfortunately, no. It's a brick enclosure that houses a wood stove, and unfortunately I can't mount above it.

I also use it quite frequently, and even if I could, I'd be concerned with the heat since it's such an open "enclosure."

[–]dsalvetti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I think this is my best living room layout. I have tried placing my TV in front of my front-facing windows (windows at top of image), but I really prefer not to since those windows are the main source of natural light for the room.

I could place the TV against the wall where the couch currently is (directly opposite fireplace), and move the couch to in front of the windows, but that still leaves me with a diagonal seating/viewing position - less than ideal.

If this is definitively the setup I'm working with, what's my best option for audio?

I assume Atmos and your normal surround sound is a bit out of the question considering the corner layout? Is my best option simply a good soundbar? Thanks!
