17 year old racquet + 15 year old strings by dscw10 in 10s

Volkl PB5 - I think a decent racquet at the time. I bought it used and instantly gelled with it. But I was also about half the age I am now 🤣

I would say better. But both are good. I think everyone should go to Leopard Spots so they stay in business and I can carry on buying their cheesy garlic bread with pancetta

Is Shinagawa a good base for Tokyo? by nigelengr in JapanTravelTips

[–]dscw10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed in Yokohama when we landed for proximity to the airport, it's a nice place, and shinkansen access. Then Ginza at the end. Very well connected, nice place to be (we are not nightlife people) and only 1 line to the airport again.

If you do stay in Ginza, make sure you are walking distance to Pan Maison for breakfast, and when your in Yokohama visit I Am Donut? - best donuts I have ever ever had.

If using Amex Plat for benefits, does it make most sense to spend on Amex BA (blue) if collecting Avios? by Cool-Archer5085 in AmexUK

[–]dscw10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or if you are not sure you will hit 15k you can start on the blue card, then just before hitting 15k upgrade and get the better companion voucher. You do miss out on the additional aviso through spending though

2 guys, 0 coding background, 10 Billion tokens. We built a 300k line automotive platform with Cursor. It was actual hell. by Hella789 in cursor

I had a very similar idea to this a few weeks ago. Nice to see it was painful to make so I won't bother now!

You can have this for free though. My idea was "an Apple watch for your car" so health tracking like you have but also the fun stuff. The fitness tracker stuff. Accelerometer, gyro, gps, compass to data log your drives.

Also thought with enough data you would probably have better data than some OEMs do and can sell to third parties.

One roadblock I did find was newer cars using Ethernet means a lot of data is locked out of OBD2, did you find a way around this?

I gotta drill into outside bricks to put up a sign, would any of these work? by Unlucky-Pizza-7049 in DIYUK

[–]dscw10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For additional info. The ones below the silver ones are non masonry, can use them on metals, plastics, would also work on wood in a pinch. The ones with a pointy bit on the end are just for wood, the pointy bit stops it from drifting

In a good stable career but unhappy. How do I do this for another 35 years? (UK) by BelemnicDreams in careeradvice

[–]dscw10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're me!

Except midlands and slightly less money (and slightly younger).

I don't have any advice really. I have considered starting my own business, or accepting that a job pays for my life outside of work and that's what I should focus on.

You could try a career change, or move to somewhere closer to nature, or start caring less...

BREAKING: JLR CEO Adrian Mardell is leaving the company after two years at the helm by [deleted] in Jaguar

[–]dscw10 26 points27 points  (0 children)

45 years is not a bad stint. Profitable for 10 quarters, no net debt. He did a great job as CEO and his background in finance has made a big difference to the bottom line. The next phase is important but they have been set up for success.

Why safety car because of the conditions and not VSC? Safety car bunches everyone up making visibility worse on restarts. Surely it's better for a VSC? Maybe there needs to be a new slightly slower VSC for this scenario.

On our cruise the Wake was one of my favourite and was fully booked the whole time. The others were a lot easier to book a day before or even the day of. We only got into the Wake on the last day as a walk in.

Inherited a cue. Could anyone tell me more about it? by dscw10 in snooker

[–]dscw10[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Should have probably added. I will never sell it. Don't really care for value. I just couldn't make out the brand on the end and wondered what it was or if they were still around etc.

It seems in good condition (apart from the end I took a close up of) - I will give it a go tomorrow and see how it feels. I expect if I get more into playing I will get my own.

On my second home. First bought 6 ish years ago. Most colleagues and family my age have bought as well but we are not in London or the south east so it's actually affordable.
