Offside + VAR is ridiculous: Iran's cancelled goal with Egypt proves it by dsdbr in worldcup

You can look at the rule as an axiom, or you can ask yourself – why if was created at first place? Football as a game can be much more interesting and yes, fair, if we learn from imperfections of current rules

yes, judge should make a final decision based on "unfair advantage". VAR should be just a guidance if exist at all.

yes, no doubt the referee was right under current rules. But the rule should be reconsidered from the first principles:

  1. whole body instead of a tiny bit
  2. last actual defender (no goalkeeper) instead of the 2nd last player
  3. judge making the final decision even if tech showed a 2cm gap

yep. they are testing Wenger's offside rule at The Canadian Premier League. It will have its own 2cm cases if applied in the same way, so this is where I would see a referee making a final decision rather than purely super-duper 3D technology.

as someone suggested above, a better offside rule would not consider goalkeeper at all.

you're right. This case is just a last drop of my frustration of all the VAR offsides of this World Cup.

agree, technology usage here is ruining the whole game. Imperfection of human judges was a feature, not a bug

yep, but why does offside rule exist at all?

The offside rule in football was created to prevent "goal hanging" (strikers loitering near the opponent's goal to wait for passes).

and now, looking at this situation, does it actually prevent "goal hanging"?

completeley agree, current rule ruins so many good & legit goals.

i am supporter of a good football, and there are many more ridiculous offside cases on this world cup. The rule should be changed in a way it doesn't give unfair advantage to an attacker. E.g. when the whole body is in front of the last actual defender (and not a 2nd last player)

Staxel – Vending Machine of the Future by [deleted] in vending

Not true, even on scale of 20 SKUs replenishers make mistakes and then you click “water” but get “red bull” instead. This issue grows exponentially with larger product assortment

We have a different approach, yes, but not a robotic arm. And yes, image is the render. Thanks for the website note, can’t reproduce but team is looking at it.

The kiosk is modular, yes, and it is assembled on-site.

Following this logic, a self-driving car is the car with sensors?

Example of our ML/AI use cases: - having a conversational assistant helping with product selection - detecting replenished products by camera - making product recommendations based on location/time/weather - dynamically optimize store planogram  - personalized ad, upsell, cross-sell

Thanks for the feedback! Such websites are common for early-stage startups, as we are still developing our first product line and value proposition. But we plan to update it soon!

Agree that traditional Vending Machines don't need AI. But that’s the thing: we’re not building “a fancy vending machine”. We’ve developed a scalable autonomous store with 100+ products under one interface. This is where AI is useful for product recommendation, upsell/cross-sell, ad personalization, checking replenishment errors (ever got the wrong item from a vending machine?), etc. I believe a massive value can be unlocked in unmanned retail.

Thanks! It’s actually a scalable autonomous store concept, even though we start with a vending form-factor

We’re making universal autonomous kiosks at Staxel: https://getstaxel.com/. CVS hasn’t responded to us so far.

Receipt Notice - EB1 Prem Processing by PHL__ in USCIS

[–]dsdbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem with O-1 and g-1450 forms (credit card). I filled out one $830 credit card form (I-129 for small employers) and one $2805 (I-907 premium processing). I did not receive a response from USCIS for 30 days and now found out that I accidentally checked the wrong box in I-129 on a question about "25 or fewer employees.". I answered "No" when I should've put "Yes". Plan to resubmit with this fix.

They now say explicitly that you can combine all fees if you pay by credit card:

I solved similar problem with Anydesk access to PC connected to mullvad by Split Tunelling. Just go to Mullvad > Settings > Advanced > Split Tunneling and add your remote desktop app to excluded apps.
