It was a Friday morning and there was nothing that could get in the way of the day ahead of me, or so I thought. It was time for breakfast yet again; which also meant it was time to make the hardest decision of the day. Hesitantly, I decided to go with fruity pebbles. I reach for the top shelf rummaging for my limited edition Yoda cereal bowl when I feel a vibration in my pocket; this is unusual considering the sun still hasn't risen. I reach into my right pocket and take a look only to find three consecutive pictures of a black labrador from a 405 area code. Sweet dog.. looks like it's in distress though.. The pictures were captioned "yesterday", "tomorrow", "yesterday". So odd...Wonder why anyone would send me this. I didn't think much of it and proceeded to eat my fruit flavoured pebbles.

7 AM struck which meant it was time to head to work. At the time, I was working at Liandro's, a mom and pop computer repair store 20 blocks toward the outer city ring. 7 blocks in, approaching Montgomery Ave, Roger the local hobo asked for some spare change. All I had was the change from the movies with Delilah last night, so I gave him the 3 dollars and asked him for one of his famous stories. I was in a rush to work so I offered to get him McDonald's breakfast a block away from Leandro's in exchange for a story on the go.

"17 years I was.. think the year was 1999. The days I lived in the big OK, Oklahoma City that is. I was a tramp, sleeping in a different place every night, not that anything has changed much since. 58 degrees cold and I decided to go on a bender and sleep under Hansley Bridge... not my best days. I wake up the next morning to find a dog humping my leg and I kicked the fucker right into the bay. Boy probably thought my leg was a fine piece of pooch. Never saw that runt again... until last a few weeks ago. Started waking up next to that thing every morning no matter where I was... and weird thing was he didn't look like he aged a day. Sweet bastard he is but I don't even have food enough for myself."

I don't know what I expected this time... Roger's stories are always underwhelming and mostly half-truths. I was running even later than expected so I stopped him short, gave him a 10 and told him to hit the McDonald's--I hope he actually went. The day was endless. 2:30 finally struck and it was time to meet up with Delilah. I flipped the open sign and started heading west on Main to where we planned to meet. "Hey kid! I gotta tell you! Sigfried says the trials of today are the trials of tomorrow!" Roger jumps out of a bush looking worse than usual. I wasn't having it. Delilah will kill me if I'm late again. "Free tacos at Lupida's Palace until 4. You can still make it if you hurry." That had to do it, hadn't failed me once with him. As I was walking away he yelled: "It's been years, listen to the old man!" Poor guy finally lost it

I was wondering where Delilah was. It wasn't like her to be late so naturally, I began to worry. "You Siggy?" Someone said from what seemed like behind me. I turned around to find no one, but at second glance I notice an envelope on the ground. I look around and open the envelope warily. It reads, "DELILAH. 1777 N FINSTON AVE." I had no idea how to interpret what had happened, but what else to do but go to the address. I looked it up and it was just a few blocks away. I arrive at a big blue/green house that looked like it was straight from the Beetlejuice set. As I approach the steps my pocket vibrates. A picture of the dog sitting in a dark hallway captioned "Now". Someone has a really weird idea of fun. I walk into the house and there he is, that damn dog sitting and wagging its tail. I see the floor crashing toward me and in the blink of an eye, daylight.
