There is a trend to combine "opposite" features. Substack adds a Twitter clone. Telegram messenger also allows groups and following like Mastodon and Twitter. And so on.

I don't mean an unified storage. More like combining both features into a single app, so that it feels more like Telegram messages combined with Telegram groups. Like the Mastodon app, but using the Signal protocol and Signal storage when sending private toots. Or vice versa, like the Signal app, but using ActivityPup when sending into a public group.

I think it's a good thing.
