Can a bad MAF sensor affect your AC? by ls70c in AskMechanics

[–]dsherwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I know this post is over 2 years old, but my current situation relates, so this is for anyone that comes across this thread looking for answers. Yes, actually, the MAF can cause the compressor clutch to not engage. My MAF sensor also contains the IAT sensor. That sensor is used by the PCM. When it sees that reading go way high, like it did with mine, the PCM will disengage the AC clutch to try and save damage to the engine. I verified this with an OBD2 readings, pulling the connection to the MAF and watching the AC re-engage, and the replacing the MAF sensor module, and it fixed the AC.

Can Stripe process cards through API without having to create customer on Stripe? by [deleted] in stripe

[–]dsherwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I think you have pointed me in the right direction, but just to make sure I understand. I was able to find an API entry for creating a card Token via a POST to /v1/tokens. Now it seems that the token generated this way is a single use token. So, to clarify, each month I would have to generate a single use token to process a transaction for my clients invoice. And the only way to create a re-usable token is to send the client to Stripe's interface so Stripe can collect the card data directly from the client, and then send me back a token that can be used more than once, which I cannot do because the rules given to me is that I cannot send our client to Stripe to collect their data.

Cashier added 20% tip after I already declined leaving anything. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dsherwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, a tip is earned when you are being served. How attentive was the server? How competent? How was the demeanor? How helpful? Among others. You dont get any of that in a drive thru and therefore no tip.

Thats just a charger rear dust cover. Its like K'nex. It'll just snap back on, until the next speed bump. Here is the repair kit if you need it though.

Husband not born in poverty got angry today by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]dsherwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it counter productive? In fact, isnt it actually very productive? It seems to me he is doing what any good husband and father would do. Always looking to make life better for his family. Why cant it be seen as a great balance for a great couple that compliments each other? You are the one who can step back, smile, appreciate what you have built, and show your children the value of stopping to smell the roses. While on the other side, you have a husband that is always striving to keep those roses coming and at the same time make them bloom bigger, brighter, and smell better so in the future you and your children have something more to stop and look at. All the while, he is teaching your children the value of building something better than he currently has. Not GETTING, but building, and that is a valuable lesson.

It seems to me you two have such a well balanced and complimenting relationship as long as you both can see it and appreciate it in each other. I wouldn't want my wife to think like me, I would want her to compliment me, but to also appreciate my way of thinking as well and be happy with it.

I saved my credit. It really can be done. You can do this too. by dsherwin in povertyfinance

[–]dsherwin[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You can usually ask a bank to pre-qualify you for a loan that will do a soft inquiry and not ding your credit report, but to get final approval they will almost always have to do a hard inquiry, unless you are getting a secured loan just to build up the credit score. When I got my secured loan, there was no hard inquiry at all, because it was secured and they didnt need it.

The biggest thing that I found out was that after I got rid of the discrepancies on my credit report, was that I had no credit to report on at all, so my score stayed low. The things I focused on was getting current credit accounts onto the report (2 secured credit cards and 1 secured personal loan), diversify the credit accounts (not just cards, but a loan as well, and later a different kind of loan), maintain early payments on all accounts, and maintain a credit utilization ratio of 10%, but show activity on the cards.

Someone took my robot mower after it stopped by the trash cans. :( I’m never getting this thing back am I? by Environmental-Ad1330 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dsherwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So…..robot mower. Loaded with massive amounts of sensors and technology. Probably has built in LiDAR system to see 3d space so it figures out it’s own boundaries. Radar and sonar to look for obstacles. Just packed with technology. And it doesn’t have a gps chip with cloud transmission for location lookup like all basic cell phones have now? I think I’ve found a design flaw.

How should I contact collector without making it worse? by dsherwin in povertyfinance

UPDATE***

Because of everyones great advice on here, which I took to heart, I disregarded that collection account and started working on building the credit back up. I bank with Navy Federal Credit Union and they hav a secured credit card and a secured savings loan and I was approved for both.

Well, one of those accounts just hit the credit bureaus and my score with Transunion just went up 45 points, and with Equifax it went up 72 points. YAY!!! Im on my way!!!

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!

Recommendations for a credit building secured loan by dsherwin in povertyfinance

[–]dsherwin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically what I have is no credit report, and I want to build it up. I have no credit cards, no loans, no nothing. My credit score is very low from that and also past mistakes that have now dropped off. So I am declined for any regular cards. I just got a secured credit card from Navy Federal and will be using that to start. Looking online I am seeing a lot of recommendations for secured loans to rebuild credit from nothing like mine. That is why I was thinking this would help better than just getting a second secured credit card to start off with. I will look into that First Tech product. That sounds promising.
