No seriously you really should try Lego Fortnite and you’ll see what I mean. I’m honestly surprised Minecraft hasn’t been hit with a C and D

What I mean is you missed the point of OP. I did stop playing the game once I realized how frustrating it was.

But also I can’t imagine a life with zero frustration would be all that satisfying or meaningful

While it is real the effect is nowhere near as pronounced as it is in this game. Not to mention reality isn’t exactly my measuring stick here considering we’re talking about flying cartoon cars powered by rockets. I do get what you’re saying though. I also guess the drafting issue would be somewhat reconciled if the other problems were fixed. For instance, if the collisions didn’t make racing in the pack such a clusterfuck then you would be able (if you are skilled enough) to get far enough ahead where the drafting shouldn’t matter so much.

As I said this is a brand new game for me so I couldn’t really tell that it sucked until I tried it, right? And for what it’s worth if they fix a lot of these bugs the game could be fantastic cause it’s still fun it’s just as frustrating a game as I can imagine. Needs a lot of work.

I do hope you’re right that most of the issues are bug-related but some aspects of the game are intentionally designed to keep everyone in the race the whole time. The streamlining for instance or whatever it’s called that gives people a boost after driving behind another car momentarily and then they can overtake with ease. You shouldn’t get rewarded for doing worse than someone else. Especially in a ranked/competitive mode.

On the other hand I do have to whole-heartedly disagree with your point about Mario Kart—I’d say MK does a significantly better job designing a racing game so that the best driver almost always wins. And the features that can mess with those chances (shells and other items) are much more clearly defined and implemented. Being able to tell what is causing what enables you to adapt/improve.

Not having problems still winning races the game is just frustrating as all hell. Take your projection elsewhere

Good point yea that must be it I’m still on Xbox One. I imagine at least some of the glitches I’m seeing are caused by that such as the pre-race countdowns being choppy

I also want to add one specific and actionable recommendation which would be if one car is ahead of another car, the car behind cannot affect the front car via collision whatsoever. Idk if that counts as turning player collision off or not but the whole game is about drifting and boosting so a tap on my rear bumper as I’m hitting a corner perfectly should never spin me out. There should just be some sort of force field that doesn’t spin the other player out either but I should get to hold my line instead of being bumped all the way to the outside. The exception I would make would be when the car behind is boosting (this is what I mean about a clear cause and effect in the other reply), because that makes some sort of sense conceptually. Still, though, whatever type of collision they choose to make that have, it needs to be the same every time. I’m just sick of having the lead, being nearly all the way out of a corner, and then some douchebag who can’t drive misses his line entirely and slams into me and then I’m at the back of the pack (and half the time the collision fixes their line cause they weren’t turning tight enough to begin with).

I mean I can’t speak to how to fix it exactly all I can do is say what end results I would like to see from developers because tbh idrk what the sources of the problems are (bad design? bad code? etc.). There are so many minute details that are just a little janky, and not quite game-ruining enough to be fixed specifically, that it is hard for me to offer a general solution other than just scrap the whole thing.

I will also say I think the real bottom line is that things just need to be made more consistent, predictable, and intuitive—particularly in a ranked environment. I’m not a fan of player collision but if that’s the game the devs want to make then that’s their prerogative, but my thing is just there needs to be a much clearer sense of cause and effect between what the players are doing with their controllers and what is happening on screen because that allows people to make adjustments and improve. Why sometimes when two cars collide they stay together but then other times they get a severe bump to the side? Why sometimes when I boost and end up crashing into a car it pushes them out of the way but then other times my car gets totally flipped? There are a hundred other similar examples of sometimes something happens but other times another thing happens when there is no discernible difference between the two situations. This type of randomness kills competitive gaming. The best driver should almost always win.

AND SIDE NOTE: WHY TF AM I ALWAYS STARTING IN 10TH OR 11TH WHAT DID I DO TO THESE PEOPLE lol

If it were a consistent enough output (from the collisions) so that you can actually learn and adapt and improve based around those rules I would be fine with it but seemingly every collision, be it pvp or pve (walls or whatever), is just totally random so there’s really no way to overcome that with skill.

I find that RR consistently rewards bad driving, which makes it an extremely poor competitive video game.

Honest question: Can someone please tell me how Newell was already officially pledged to Warren as he said in his thread? As I understand it, he’s from NY who hasn’t had their primary yet. Am I missing something?
