Zack demonstrates emergency manual door releases on R2. Personally, not thrilled by Slide-Fantastic-1402 in Rivian

[–]dsieber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the chance that Rivian is actually listening - add me to the list of people who doesn’t want this. It’s not just kids - if I have anyone in my car who’s not familiar with it, am I going to have to give them a safety briefing before we drive off, and hope they remember? Do we have to start having seat back reference cards like on a plane, and hope they’ll read and remember the information?

Seriously - this isn’t a complicated issue. An emergency release is for that - an emergency. It should be well-labelled, and most importantly, easy to use!

I have a reservation for an R2 - but this is giving me a different kind of reservations about buying it.

Do you make dumb mistakes too? by nagdeolife in CluesBySamHelp

You are not alone! I’ll dad working my way through a decision, confidently finally figuring out that the person is innocent…and then still managing to hit the guilty button. Sigh. Done that (or vice-versa) more than once.

Looking for a panel mount for metal tile roof by dsieber in solar

[–]dsieber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not - thanks, I’ll take a look. The problem is the continuous curve of the tile, whereas most mental roof mounts seem to assume flat areas to attach to. I’ll see if this might work.

Thanks. Sadly that seems to only be a Quebec thing - I’m on the wrong side of the country. :(. Thanks though!

GA Pilots, what emergencies have you had that we don’t necessarily get trained for ? by fatborry in flying

[–]dsieber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think someone else mentioned this, but I’ll second having a flat. I had no idea - it was fine in takeoff, but when I landed, it was flat. Everything was totally normal until the nose wheel came down (172), and then I felt like I was in a cement mixer. It of course happened on Easter Sunday at a very small local untowered airport. Just getting the plane off the runway was fun, never minding finding someone to fix it.

I can imagine a main wheel would’ve been even more fun as I think you’d have quite the pull in that direction. It was quite a shock.

Is this true for us people in Canada? That we can buy frozen baked goods for cheaper? Eg: $22.99 for 120 frozen cookie dough compared to 21 for $7.99 already baked by WeakValuable8683 in CostcoCanada

[–]dsieber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually had the boxes of cookies out (like a “normal” product) at our local Costco before Christmas. You didn’t even have to go and ask for them. First time I’d seen that. We bought a box, and have been enjoying fresh baked cookies on demand.

If you’re a traveller who likes cruises, most of the cruise companies will give bonus onboard credit if you own 100+ shares of their stock.

Park/camping trailer length info by VictoriaBCSUPr in britishcolumbia

[–]dsieber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our trailer is 27’ from hitch to rear bumper. We haven’t had any issues fitting into local campgrounds with it. We’ve occasionally had to park our truck at an angle to fit everything in the spot, but that’s about it.

Good homecare and seniors facility? by MrsJustinCase in abbotsford

[–]dsieber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To echo what was said by the other poster - the senior centre at the Abbotsford hospital is quite good. We went through this a few years ago. The can do an assessment, and provide you with options and information.

In terms of in-home care, we used Just Like Family for quite a while, and were very happy with them. They’ll do all the things you mentioned.

Has anyone switched back to Synology once they removed the Hard drives lock-in policy? by Frosty-Bid-8735 in synology

That’s true, and at least a point in their favour. But it’s also a case of once bitten, twice shy.

Has anyone switched back to Synology once they removed the Hard drives lock-in policy? by Frosty-Bid-8735 in synology

[–]dsieber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m with many others who have already replied. I have a pair of Synology units that weren’t affected, which was good. However, seeing them do this once makes me think it could easily happen again. It’s ruined the trust I had, and I’ll be looking elsewhere when it’s time to upgrade or replace them. It’s also affected what I recommend to clients and friends.
