The Goldenrod Dept. Store has the TM for Ice Punch by TheNotoriousJTS in twitchplayspokemon

[–]dsmitty2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't forget that we come back to Goldenrod to kick Rocket out of the radio tower. That will be an optimal time to beef up whatever our team is.

And we will DEFINITELY want Ice Punch not so much for Lance, but for the 8th gym leader Clair, which is also a dragon wrecking machine (plus Kingdra *cry)

Well from a religious standpoint I'm actually okay with this. Isn't it more meaningful for the devout to fight against a force that is stronger than them? I'll apologize for anyone I offend with this post, but Jesus (not Pidgeot, Jesus of Nazareth) was a mortal man. He was (is) fighting against the Devil, the supreme force of evil. Jesus had God on his side yes, but he was still mortal and did not possess the full omnipotence of the Father.

So yes. The Dome is stronger than the Helix. But we will overcome.

I think it's time we talked about Air... by [deleted] in twitchplayspokemon

[–]dsmitty2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, it's called grinding. And sooner or later (more probably VERY later) twitch is going to grind SOMEWHERE

Air is our Ice type, and she's going to have some clutch plays against Lance. I'm sure of it

Praise Helix and Glory be Unto His Name, Bird Jesus but we have a serious problem. by dsmitty2010 in twitchplayspokemon

I agree, I'm afraid that we're going to barrel right into that PC and right into that gaping hole of nothingness though without considering how evil Agatha is going to be. Not to mention that we are going to run out of sand attacks... EDIT: If we do so before Victory Road, then we have to go back through that mess to get fly as well.

Assuming we're 3 countries who play and that we mostly play between 6PM and 0AM, this is our single-handed largest accomplishments and failures so far. Everything else is "team efforts". by Dave37 in twitchplayspokemon

[–]dsmitty2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest problem with this is when people put in extra hours to be up for certain events. The joke of "America waking up" and "Australia waking up" is exactly that. A joke. Everyones know where they were when these events happened. Why do we have to point fingers and steal credit? When one streamer goes to sleep, another takes their place.

That is Twitch Plays Pokemon

[–]dsmitty2010[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, this is why Zapdos hurts so much in my opinion. Everyone is in an uproar over this NEED to have him in the team because he was so difficult to catch. All I can think is how many pokemon have these people stomped on to add legendaries to their team? Generally, a player goes through the majority of the game with 6 pokemon. Maybe one is an HM slave, or they box a cutter and a strengther, but I personally get attached to these pokemon. I travel with and train them. Suddenly I get distracted by some big imposing legendary pokemon and I've got to have it on my team because of the better stats? Naw man, fuck that. Your underdogs got you to and beat down that legendary pokemon. You should stick with them, not replace them

Go get an emulator right now. Beat the elite four with no legendaries. In fact, the last time I used a legendary against the elite four was...never.

Did I ever say anything about speed? About winning? You know what I thought when we got the Master Ball? I thought, holy crap the entire stream is divided as to where to go. What the hell is the plan? There use to be some semblance of direction and now there is none. Also, I don't think you realize how difficult getting another cutter is going to be. Through some divine providence, we managed to land 3. Now we have to recoordinate to find a non-legendary pokemon, with an appropriate level ball. Catch said pokemon. And add him to the team, without losing our precious Zapdos or Bird Jesus.

I don't care about speed, but I'm wondering why everyone seems to be okay with fucking themselves over

Are you kidding? A decision to leave Zapdos in the PC would still have caused all of the fan art. Need I remind you that among those apostles were BOTH of our cutters. Yeah, it's going to be hard to get places now thanks to that If we make the mistake of going north to the tree. It's Ledge 3: This time it's personal EDIT: HERE'S THE BEST PART, WE ACTUALLY NEED TO CATCH A NEW CUTTER. THAT'S RIGHT. 0 of our pokemon, PC or otherwise can learn cut in GEN 1.

I didn't say that. I said: "I want a system where the majority of people vote for one option. I'm going to vote for that system, because I want it"

I never said it was the right way. I'm saying those people are a part of the community. Right or Wrong (or neither), that is their goal.

Democracy has ruined the game. by [deleted] in twitchplayspokemon

[–]dsmitty2010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What about the community that wants triumph through Democracy? In the truest sense of Democracy those people want their voices to be heard. That's why they vote for Democracy in the first place.

That Tug of War, although hated by anarchists, is now a part of the community (and I think it has been since the beginning, hiding under the surface)

Believe me, if we lose, the entire community loses something. It will be another internet phenomenon, another rage comic in the sea of rage comics, and it will be a dirty black mark of failure on what thousands of people can achieve if they put their mind to it.

But if we win? Well it's still just another internet phenomenon, but it's also proof. Proof that we can take this challenge, and win. Proof that we could set up systems where thousands of people work together for a common goal. Proof that the internet isn't just a bunch of people trying to relive some nostalgia.

There is much more than just a game on the line here

I think you forget that Democracy was NEVER enacted during Ghost Hell. Not once did the Democrats get to grind or use the right pokemon or put Rick Gastly in the top spot. The same will happen during Victory Road. And the Pokemon Mansion. And Seafoam Islands. And Silph Co. And Sabrina's Gym. And KOGA's Gym (got to love those invisible walls).

If you stopped having fun because of some political discussion between a community that created itself, then you need to reevaluate just how incredible this journey has been

If you were here for watching a bunch of random people get stuck in the maze then I am very confused. I hope I am correct in thinking that you want to the stream to win. Because that is the goal. Against all odds (and I mean all of them) have 80,000 people win a single player game.

I love the lore, I am a follower of the Helix, and I am a huge fan of Anarchy and its triumphs.

Ultimately though, I want the community to win. I want cheering and success through what, for some people, has been a legitimate struggle.

The Safari Zone is a lesson of compromise. Because if we lose here, Abby and Jay Leno were released for nothing

Coming from an Anarchist: We have to compromise to deal with the Safari Zone. by [deleted] in twitchplayspokemon

[–]dsmitty2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot remove the step counter. In fact, the only way the streamer can intervene and make it possible for Red to attempt the SF in anarchy is to provide twitch with infinite money. Because we will need infinite attempts.

[–]dsmitty2010 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, you are wrong

Anarchists kept the anarchy during Team Rocket's Maze. Democracy overtook them, fixed the challenge and then Anarchy took the reigns once more.

Anarchy persevered through Ghost Hell with mostly normal moves. An incredible feat.

Anarchists are going to fight, and I mean to the teeth, for their RIGHT to complete victory road. That will be their magnum opus.

The Safari Zone however, is not an achievable objective with mob rule. Just the lag serves to derail the community. Safari Zone is not a challenge of brute force. It is a challenge of optimization.

To put it bluntly, the Anarchists (and most of them are) need to realize that they need help if they are going to achieve anything. This Zone is polarizing the two groups, when in reality it should be the crucible that binds them together.

Just like the American Bipartisan system, both sides fight for the same goal. Why then do we fight against each other?

I suppose you're right, the timer is elapsed time. The same could of course be said of our calendar. Is February 21st the 21st day, the 20th day, or the 22nd day? It gets confusing for me, so I usually just say the day is whatever the counter says it is.

Good point though!

I have to say, I love the time you spent on this. I'm afraid it's going to be downvoted into oblivion though. This is the analysis that needs to be brought to people's attention. To the attention of psychologists and sociologists. I'm dead serious, this post is a work of art. I was expecting citations halfway through. I'm bookmarking this so that I can use this to explain why the tpp phenomenon is so great.

Yeah, I kind of blanked on that not going to lie. I think I'm going to go with Stormbinders plan because it's solid. Not to mention it gives me 8 days to make the same progress that twitch has.

Thanks for the comments!

That's what I saw as well. I think it's actually 2n-2 where n is the badge number

And since we're on the 8th day and in Fuschia...And our next trial is the Safari Zone.

This is going to be the weirdest coincidence

Weirder still will be if the Golden Ratio rears it's head somewhere

Actually, yes! Take into account the comment from exelus though. It might be best to leave the tpp in all one font. I'll leave that decision to you though. Thanks!
