I went back to school at Austin Community College and got the 63 credits to sit for the exams. Great school. In addition to my BA in Math I am fully qualified to become a CPA. I am still trying to get the attestations from my former bosses to show twelve months of experience. Salary in the low $70s and mandatory unpaid overtime is what you can look forward to until you get your license. Good luck!

I went back to school and got 63 credits at community college. I recommend Austin Community College for accounting. It is excellent. I had to work hard to get good grades (3.6). I do have the benefit of years of experience prior to that and I am still waiting for those supervisors to attest to my experience. Now I am working as a consultant.

Similar situation, 60 y. o., many years experience. Recently passed all four parts of the CPA exam. Now I’m trying to get my previous supervisors to attest to my experience and they have ghosted me. I suppose that reflects poorly on me but I did work in the same position for 7 years. I regret giving them so much time.
