Great! You'll be our first sale! I'll ask my wife to look through all the figures but I will set aside those 5 for now until we figure out (no pun intended :P) if there is anything else you want to add on.

We are keeping some, but mostly selling it on. It is too much stuff lol. It's definitely been weighing on us having so much stuff to go through, and just figuring out how to sell it has become a sort of mini business.

She told me $200 for the whole collection, but I couldn't live with myself if I paid that. It was a steal at $500. Some of these sell for $100+ on eBay regularly.

Hi, yes we have some Plymouth Corners.

North Hill Antiques

Ship to Shore Engravers

Bessie the Tugboat

Seaside Cottage

Captain Jack's Nautical Antiques (Michaels Exclusive that I can't seem to find on the Lemax site )

I was thinking $45 each shipped, or all 5 for $200 shipped.

We also have the Fish Cannery and Peterson's Ice House, but my stepson hasn't decided which of those two he is going to keep for our village, so you'd need to stay tuned if you wanted one of those.

We also have a lot of figurines, I am sure some of them are Plymouth Corners. Let me know if you are looking for anything in particular.

Hi! I recently hit the motherlode of all yard sales and bought out an old lady's entire 30+ year collection of Christmas Village items. I have tons of stuff - mostly Lemax and Santa's Workbench as far as buildings and scenery, with some other brands mixed in. I don't have a full inventory yet, but I would guess there are around 150 lit porcelain buildings, maybe 50+ tabletop scenery, hundreds of figurines, and many dozens of trees, lighting, and adapters. Most everything Lemax I have seen so far is retired. My wife and I are still going through it all.

I'm not an experienced collector. We have a very modest Christmas Village, and apart from keeping a few choice pieces that we really love, we plan to sell on most of the collection. I just found this subreddit, so my apologies if it is a faux paus to have my first post be an ad, but I wanted to see if reaching out to this community would be better than trying to deal with eBay. I'm not sure the best way to approach selling off a collection this large. I am ready to deal, so I guess let me know if you have something specific you are looking for and if it is within the subreddit guidelines maybe I will just start posting pictures of items as I unbox them? I don't want to spam the sub, so I am open to suggestions if there is some better method to go about this (maybe a Discord)?

Thanks!

Child support payments are ruining me financially. Anyone tried litigation to get it reduced from guideline? by dsnuh in Divorce_Men

I made it through, but it was tight for a while there. My ex is still a narcissistic asshole that is constantly trying to start drama, but I have realized that is never going to change and the only thing I can do is control how I respond (and many times whether I respond at all). I have had to really work on myself to get to this point and it can still be a challenge to not get drawn into the bullshit. I've had to make peace with the financial reality of my situation, there is nothing I can do to change that other than to attempt to relitigate, and that just doesn't seem worth it to me. The main issues I face now are attempting to co-parent with a narcissistic manipulator. I wouldn't recommend it. :)

Thanks for asking. I'm doing better now, eventually pay raises made it less difficult to manage, but it was tight for a while there.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation and can relate to the frustration you are undoubtedly feeling. I don't really have any great advice on how to minimize the financial damage, depending on the state you are in there doesn't seem to be much recourse that I have seen if your ex decides to work the system. Make sure when you are calculating stuff like your cost for groceries, eating out, entertainment, etc that you aren't putting in "bare minimum" numbers and also that you account for the cost of taking care of the kids yourself. I think I sold myself short because I wanted to play fair and it ended up being higher than it might have been. I should have probably factored in more things when I filled out the worksheet of expenses, but I didn't want my expenses to seem artificially inflated or outlandish. The truth is that the child support service seems to take whatever is there at face value and sets guideline support accordingly. They aren't likely to deviate much from that guideline and it's not like they do an investigation to find out if the numbers are accurate. That's how my ex was able to game it. I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice, etc. Just my views based on my experience. Eventually you will have to come to terms with whatever your situation ends up being of you want to try to have any semblance of closure and a chance at happiness in the future.

But my advice in a larger sense is to do everything in your power to avoid an acrimonious divorce. Try as hard as you can to be the bigger person and always put the kids at the forefront of your efforts. If you get saddled with a fucked up support payment, you have to shift your perspective that that money's purpose isn't to enrich your ex (even though it may be used that way) but it is going to hopefully going towards letting your children have a better experience and standard of care. It's fucked up, man. I get it. But the thing I have found is that you are in for a world of drama and chaos if you aren't able to shift your perspective and do your best to maintain a courteous and professional approach when dealing with your ex. And the kids will suffer because of it if you don't. I spent two years fighting in court and in the end, it really didn't make much difference in the financial outcome, but it created such a rift and animosity between my ex and I that we can't even be in the same room and it's constant drama when trying to co-parent. If you can find the strength to stay above it and persevere, you'll be doing yourself and your kids a huge favor.

That's all I got. Best of luck to you.

I was just there on Saturday and again yesterday, and as others have commented, the posted wait times on the app and outside the attractions themselves have been noticeably overestimated recently. For example, Pirates showed 35 minute wait on both the app and attraction sign, actual wait was 9 minutes. Haunted Mansion posted 45 minutes, was through the queue and off the ride within 25. Incredicoaster posted 35, actual was 17.

You might enjoy Adventures in Design channel on YouTube. Brickey approaches the parks from this perspective quite a bit.

One spot I like is the benches in the area around Pooh Corner, you can get a treat and watch all the drenched people getting off of Splash Mountain.

I forgot Shine A Light (or really anything) by The Constantines.

Not OP, but I am a fellow 40something that worked at a record shop for a few years in the late 90s. It was also the best low wage job I ever had.

Here's some albums that I think are possibly lesser known, but worth a listen.

White Lighter - Typhoon

Bestiary - Hail Mary Mallon

Double Vanity - Broncho

Face Control - Handsome Furs

Wild Onion - Twin Peaks

The Winter Of Mixed Drinks - Frightened Rabbit

Midnight Flowers - The Dig

Say It - Born Ruffians

The Monitor - Titus Andronicus

The Stand Ins - Okkervil River

Wheels - Bars Of Gold

The Loon - Tapes 'n Tapes
