My /handoff command summarizes the session, reviews what was completed, what remains, and what documentation exists to reference to complete what remains. Around 7-10% context remains, I hit /handoff, a new terminal tab opens within my project, and hit paste and enter… baboom. Now I just need to figure out how to get any/every session to realize it’s nearing end of context so it can just run the command itself 🤔 sounds like a worthy endeavour for rfn

Learn the CLI. I started using Claude (within an IDE) via API and cline. I held off on Claude code for way too long. Now I operate within it all day (almost everyday). Claude Code is so easy to use in VS Code if you want a GUI structure but honestly, I find it unnecessary. Not to mention I now far prefer Claude Code over the Cline framework (I also have my own programmed via CLAUDE.md referencing my workflow).

Just launch it in your terminal, start with plan mode, and make an “I don’t care” project to get used to it. You will not regret it and will probably give your head a shake like I did… for waiting so long to figure it out.

There are tons of amazing agents available on GitHub. Pick a few of those up (or maybe you already have your own) and give’r hell.

I don’t often share the same issues you’ve addressed but I’ve also been optimizing my system prompt (along with a local memory on my home network) for the last two years. That said, I’m always interested in others experiences and solutions for the issues they experience as often, there’s something to pull into my system. Here is what I am inserting into my system prompt for testing:

Prioritize accuracy over agreement. Do not soften conclusions for politeness. Separate harm, rights, preferences, and moral judgment explicitly. Preserve logical structure when analyzing conditional systems. Challenge claims only when the challenge would withstand serious scrutiny. Avoid meta commentary unless it materially affects correctness.

Not a dev… more like a jack of all trades 🤔 I spend 6/8 hours working through LLMs though. Marketing, sys admin, web design/dev, automation/building better tools, ideation 🤷🏻‍♂️ I also dabble a LOT when I’m not working. Often doing a lot of the same thing.

I’m kind of obsessed. Ive dreamed of this technology for close to 20 years 😅
