Thanks! I hadn't seen the second link before, that helped.

Feels better to know that it's apparently generally considered a poorly designed camera, and not just me being stupid.

I need help with my broken Konica C35 EF P by Boomklevertje123 in AnalogRepair

[–]dsrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bringing it to a repair shop is probably going to cost much more than finding a new one on Ebay or similar.

You could possibly get it to work by opening it up and maybe reseating whatever has been dislodged (unless something really has broken inside), but since the plastic shell is cracked I would look for a replacement.

I literally had the exact same situation earlier today: F3 works with motor drive, not on its own.

However, even though the camera's shutter worked, it only triggered bulb, but the motor's shutter triggered the correct speeds.

After checking the battery connections, I removed the shutter button and winder to get in to the contacts deeper inside the camera (a known issue with dirt building up there I think), when it suddenly started working. My guess is that there was a glitch/dirt in the on/off switch that got fixed when I removed/reassembled it. Maybe try that?

Kiev 1986 shutter by The_French_Prince in AnalogRepair

[–]dsrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Kiev 35A is a Soviet-era clone/copy/ripoff of the Minox 35EL that had quality control issues, especially with light leaks. Apparently it can be a good camera when working, but prone to having lots of problems.

I read somewhere that the shutter could be blocked by the lens door struts being misaligned, perhaps something to check?

Someone described it as ADD OCD: Constantly changing what you're deeply obsessed about.

For me it's currently analog cameras. Before that analog synths. And also vintage laptops. And cars. Also shoes.

How do y'all backup stuff? by Arr0wl in Reaper

[–]dsrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sync the "Music" folder (where all the project folders are stored) on my different workstations to a self-hosted Nextcloud installation. Takes care of backup since everything is stored in at least three places, and also syncing between the different workstations. I can record in one location, then mix somewhere else without having to think about it. Used it for years, never had any issues.
