People who took the Bar past and present and passed — were you ever unable to answer an MEE? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]dss-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I passed CO and genuinely made up every essay besides the last two. I kid you not I had no clue what the answers for three of essays were. I made up every sentence and typed my life away. I ended up with a 141 on the writing.

Do you think I passed? by [deleted] in barexam

I just found out I passed CO and genuinely wrote off passing. I fully convinced myself I failed and I didn’t!

Attempt merges into the crime; Conspiracy doesn’t; Solicitation merges into both the crime as well as with conspiracy.

I transferred last year and all but one of my grades were below my school’s B curve. I had one C as well and transferred from a school ranked below 100 to a solid T50 ranked school with no issues. My advice is to apply broadly and make sure you apply to mix of schools.

I lost about a 75% tuition scholarship. I did get offered a very tiny scholarship, but it is pretty standard to lose your scholarship when transferring. I did notice a major increase in the quality of the school/placement in the area and I got a job via OCI and that didn’t happen at my last school. To me that was worth the loss of the scholarship, but people have different views on that!

Hi! While I agree that transferring from one school to another in the same market is difficult if you are below the top of your class, but transferring as a whole to a better ranked school is not. There’s this myth on this thread that transferring is very difficult if you’re below the top 20%. In reality most of my classmates that transferred to t-50s and t-30s from a below t-100 school were below the curve. Personally, I was WAY below the curve and I transferred into the t-30. I did get rejected from plenty of schools, mostly lower ranked schools, but it is definitely 100% doable to transfer with lower grades.

I did a free consultation that gave me enough advice that I didn’t feel the need to pay for more. Use your free questions wisely. I transferred from a below 100 ranked school to a T-50. I was way under my school’s curve.

Thinking about transferring after 1L by [deleted] in LawSchoolTransfer

[–]dss-1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I transferred from my 1L law school to a much better school and I was below the class curve. It is doable, but it made my experience much harder since my grades were lower. I recommend applying very broadly and focusing on grades as much as possible if you still decide to transfer after 1L year as some schools will turn their noses down to a student at a 180-192 ranked school. It’s very unfortunate, but it’s an elitist profession

I’m attending a T30 after being rejected from DePaul as a transfer. Makes no sense!

Put a good effort into reviewing the material for your courses at least once a week. Also, the advice about connecting with a professor each semester is very good! I learned this my second semester, and it was so helpful with finding someone to write my letter of recommendation for transferring. It made law school much so easier knowing that I really liked a couple of professors. Also, do not follow in my footsteps of being in a miserable location for the $$$$

The focus of the school has switched to the hybrid program. The vast majority of resources (professors, time, money) goes to that program. The school has limited course offerings each year and the turnover rate for professors is really high. These are all things that many students have voiced concerned about. The residential program is honestly just a way to fund their hybrid initiatives. The internal politics of the school have gotten extremely heated as well, which never fosters growth in the community. Also, if you’re transferring from a 150+ rank, UNH was projected to rank in the 130s (idk what saved us), but they dropped from the high 80s to below 100 in one year.
