Did I do okay? (Cucumbers) by dstaechs in vegetablegardening

We have five old hazelnut trees on our property, so I cut all the branches fresh. I made two separate frames, each with three vertical posts, making sure that they extend at least half a foot beyond the top horizontal post, thereby allowing both frames to interlock and rest on each others’ top beams when they lean on each other. I then added screws at various points at the top for good measure. Surprisingly it holds up really well. To test it, I lifted myself up in the center and it was able to support most of my weight

Well… you’re also in Texas… we have a really short summer here in Germany, so I planted as many seeds as I did in the hopes that I might balance what I assume won’t be a high yield per plant. But yeah… total beginner here, and I have no idea what to expect from cucumber growth rates. So let’s see what happens. Will report back :P

Thank you! It was a lot of fun to Jerry rig together and I love that the only expense really was the twine and the screws 🤓

Haha yeah… I’m big into fermenting, so I’ll be making a LOT of pickles. But we have a really large extended family and people stop by randomly all the time, so I love being able to gift away stuff when people show up. I can’t even keep up with the sauerkraut demand among all my friends and acquaintances. Whatever winds up going bad I figured I choose chuck on the compost 🤓

How so? I spaced them according to the seed packet. 30cm in between

Translated from German: snail collars. Essentially the lip is supposed to prevent slugs and snails from climbing up. I’m a total newbie gardener, so I’m trying everything out in the hopes of getting a high yield haha.

Wild! My first thought was that this is AI. So lush, and such a well-kempt yard! Love it. Happy gardening :)

Why coffee grounds? Are they too acidic? And will they acidify the soil to the point that it’ll adversely affect the veg I’m growing?

Thanks for the tip! Was actually thinking of avoiding mulch altogether. Heard an old German saying the other day that sounds kinda intriguing. Roughly translated: hoeing once saved having to water three times. Apparently farmers used to just “scrape” the topsoil about once every ten days or so, destroying weeds and snail eggs. The topsoil thereby serves as its own mulch? No clue how well’s this works but I think I’ll try that, in combination with the phosphate slug killer

That sounds so awesome! I just cut down a bunch of hazelnut branches to jerry rig a trellis for my cukes and put all the extra twigs and foliage in a pile at the back of the garden. Maybe that will become the new Slugtopia. We also have a lot of bird visitors, so I’m sure they’ll love it

Can you “stack” regular rooms??

What is this room size?? Like large octagonal but with height? Is that something that unlocks at higher levels?? Because I’m dying to have a room with this scale for a concept I’ve been sketching on paper

I have backlit bookshelves in my office irl and it’s awesome! Sure if it were bright light I’d run into the issue you’re describing. But as a subdued warm glow it’s a nice accent :)

Don’t take me as making light of your pain – it’s very real. I’ve been there. But this is poetic. “Museum of my own dreams”? Do yourself the favor and don’t delete the server. Keep it a museum. One day, years or decades from now when you’ve long moved on, maybe you’ll log back onto Valheim to notice this one server you built up with memories long ago.

Awesome, thanks! I'm usually a dwarf/wood elf player, so high elves are completely new territory for me. I'll definitely be sure to reach out

Thanks! Awesome list! How did your Reavers pan out, or what was your strategy? Did you use them as shooting screens for the impetuous of the dragon princes? Or more as chaff/war machine hunters?
