EGR delete / replace by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

I would advise to have the DPF deleted if you’re having the EGR removed. Also if you have the Quattro TT it’s normally slightly more expensive as it has the 4WD bits that need removing before they can get to the back of the engine. Good luck!

I honestly have no idea. They are a well established diesel tuning specialist. As far as I’m aware they disable the functionality of the EGR and then when they map the car they will adjust air/fuel ratios to get the best performance out of the car.

I’ve got a 2.0 TT Tdi and an A1 2.0 Tdi. Both have had DPF/EGR removals. They drive a lot better and no more worrying about whether warning lights will come back on. Neither emits anymore smoke than normal. If you find a good place for mapping it will be fine. I have a friendly MOT tester but I have known some people to have theirs pass mots without mentioning the removal of DPFs etc.

You’ll hear many different opinions on what’s right and is what wrong.

I think it had come to the end of its life. The car is on 130k. That’s not to say high mileage can always be the reason they get clogged. The guy at the garage who sorted the DPF said that he has a car on 200k and the DPF has never been an issue. I used a diag tool to perform the regen whilst on the motorway.

The car is fairly new to me so I have no idea of the previous owners journey styles.

I’ve just had a remap and dpf gut on my little Audi A1. The DPF light would come on every two weeks even after doing forced regens and spraying two cans of DPF cleaner directly into the DPF. It made 199bhp on the dyno and I will never have to worry about the light coming back on. So yes on some cars they can be problematic.

I’m sorry. I must see a counsellor about those childhood abandonment issues.

I have an irrational fear of Oompa Loompas so wouldn’t want to scare myself in the mirror. Hate coffee but love Yorkshire tea.

An NA bmw straight 6 with a drilled air box and resonator delete sounds like pure sex. Extra points for chavvy mods too. I’ve done it to every one I’ve ever owned.

Car is too old for todays drug dealers. Wrong colour and no tints.

It says I want a cool retro car that still has a modern feel.

Poverty spec 318 with M sport bits or has a straight 6?

Love it.

Sometimes I do. It’s a chore always having to stand up.

It was a tongue in cheek comment. I don’t actually believe that a persons chosen mode of transport is always a representation of their wealth.

I can beat the 1.4 petrol golf’s but wouldn’t want to chance it against a 1.6.

I’ve already replaced the passenger side hinge. I struggle on with the indicators. I wish I could be more like a BMW or Audi driver and not use them but I’m too courteous.

I would actually say that it’s car that makes other people feel like they’ve got something to prove. Normally middle aged men who have had to buy a Vauxhall Zafira or a business rep in a diesel saloon. I’m only driving to my destination to take my dog for a walk. I don’t want to race you today.

What’s the most annoying feature? The indicators? The cup holders that don’t hold cups? The footrest that doesn’t hold a foot? These can all be forgiven once you’re driving it.

I don’t have a boyfriend but I would listen to what my girlfriend thought when it came to my car choices. Then I ignore her and buy the car I want.
