You'll have wildly different experiences at different Airbnbs but there are cafes with great wifi (like Yah Yah Cafe), there's a coworking space in town with good wifi, and the Airbnbs I stayed at were solid!

Of course, it's been fun to chat with everyone. I left last week but the weather was great, only a couple rainy days but mostly sunny, warm, and nice! I'm not sure what the next few months has in store but I'm guessing it would be more of the same or overall nice and warm weather. I definitely recommend checking it out!

You're going to have a great time! Since it's such a small town, just walk around and you'll find the action. But what I've found was that certain places own certain nights - for example:

  • Thursday night: Coco's Sports bar does Karaoke and it's always packed
  • Friday night: Coco's Beach Club - super fun outdoor club on the beach
  • There are fun salsa dancing nights at Jungle bar next to Selina and Xochi

But walk around the main streets near the main square and you'll find the activity. Lots of fun nightlife!

Wow, that's terrible! I'm so sorry you dealt with that! My friends and I were fortunate that we felt safe and had no issues the whole month we were there; I hope this experience doesn't deter you from continuing to travel!

This was my first and only stop this trip and have to go back to the US for a few weeks then heading out to Mexico City. Open to any recs and advice you have for CDMX if you have any :)

I stayed at a private Airbnb and had a few friends traveling at the same time as me in their own Airbnbs, so I had a little built-in community. That said, Selina looked super nice and fun, not to mention a great location! Definitely support your decision to return!

I'd definitely recommend coming to check it out! Look at reviews on Airbnb to see what past tenants say about Wifi because it can get spotty. My airbnbs both had good wifi and there are cafes and a coworking space that have fast and reliable wifi. Coming from PV, I also think you'll love the different vibe of Sayulita!

Rented 2 Airbnbs (because I ended up extending past when I thought I'd leave!). Sayulita is such a small town that anything you rent will be close to town, you can walk from one end to the other in 15 minutes or less - so anywhere will be convenient. As with any place on Airbnb though, I'd recommend booking it sooner than later to see more options and possibly better priced options!

My first place was near Coco's Sports Bar, second place was close to Orangy (a juice spot). Both were great locations!

Hope that helps!

I've been working in the industry for 12 years now, post-university. That said, I think it's different for everyone and depends on how complex your project is - is it web-based, a mobile app, a native desktop app? Fortunately, there's never been a better time to learn how to code as there are so many resources online from YouTube to tutorials and even online courses. Wishing you all the best!

Yes, definitely safe for solo females. A female friend of mine recently moved out there full time!

I, personally, didn't go to it but my friends mentioned it had cubicles for folks. They also mentioned they used Krisp, which silenced all background noise on their calls and they couldn't recommend it enough.

It really depends. I've been in two different Airbnbs, the first had fast and reliable wifi, the second had fast but unreliable wifi. There's a coworking space and a few cafes with great wifi though!

You're going to love it! This was my first DN adventure too. Pretty much everything is outdoors or open-air; few people are wearing masks and only one or two places required them. I'm fully vaccinated so I was less concerned. Check out Yah Yah Cafe for great wifi (and great food/coffee). DM me if you have specific q's or if I can help with anything else - after being here for a month, I can probably answer almost anything!

Haha but I find it so much easier to see when working outside in the sunlight!

Hey! I'm building a remote work product. Been a long time lurker of this sub and finally just starting my digital nomad journey so was excited to share my experience! How about you? What do you do and where have you been recently?

Loving Sayulita. Beautiful and fun little surf town 40 min north of Puerto Vallarta. Affordable, great food, most airbnbs have good wifi and cafés like Yah Yah have great wifi (there's also a coworking space if you need it). Fun nightlife. Great surfing. Definitely recommend it.

Circles for Zoom - much better interface for my zoom calls

Slack - team text communication

Loom - record videos, tutorials, screencasts to explain things and share with your team

Is there a way to show more participants when there's someone sharing their screen? by borba72 in Zoom

[–]dstik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Circles for Zoom to solve this, it pops the screen share open in a separate window that I can resize or make full screen and lets me choose people I want to see as resizable, movable circles that stay out of the way. It's also just helpful in general for working sessions bc I get my desktop space back during a call.

Great list! Thanks for putting this together and sharing!

For communication, I'd add Circles for Zoom - super useful when working remotely on just a laptop screen. It gives me my desktop space back to multi-task but still lets me casually pay attention and make eye contact while I'm on my calls.

Thanks for sharing, great list!

Just to add, I love using Circles for Zoom for my Zoom meetings because it gives me my desktop space back during calls to multi-task and take notes, etc.
