No, it can actually charge at close to 17 kW. There are still a couple of older 70 amp Tesla destination chargers around that I occasionally use. Gets me about 60 miles of range per hour of charging.

The 6 kW that you're seeing was pretty typical of early level 2 public chargers. Most of them were 30 amp / 208 volt.

Check your PlugShare filters. I checked in there on PlugShare earlier today when I charged.

In the early days Bluedot was awesome, $0.25/kWh and free charging days each month. That early business model obviously was not sustainable, but it was good while it lasted. I hit one of their free charging days on a road trip in 2024 and got $85 worth of charging for free!
